FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

YARDBIRD!

A must whenever I'm in Miami.

you were down here and you didn't treat me to lunch?

Haven't visited you guys in a while :frown:.
Pho is Vietnamese comfort food, it's not like American's fried or anything heavy...Did you use the hoisin or sriracha sauce to dip the meat?

Do drink the broth too, I love it.
yes, I did use the sauces and drank the broth! Question, roomate said the tripe (i think thats what it was) was mainly for flavor and not for eating, any truth to this?

Eat it!

Assuming you aren't Asian, or a minority, tripe may be a little tough to swallow (sometimes literally). It's quite chewy, rubberband-ish texture, but it doesn't have a taste.

I dip it in the hoisin and sriracha sauce (mixed).

I'm in San Francisco for the next few days. Need some recommendations.

Unfortunately....everything. But really I just want to hit the **** I NEED to hit in whatever city I'm in.

Throw me some options. I'm searching now too.

If you have access to Yardbird on a week in/week out basis, you should not even complain.

On a side note, I forgot that I got the Maple Bacon donut to go. **** was in my car all day.

Had a long day of work. Ended at 1am. Snatched a leftover protein shake from an artist trailer.

Had a 6am flight so went to a strip club until I needed to hit the airport. Had a few drinks.

Wobbled out. Ate the donut. Guzzled the protein shake. Felt BRAND NEW

Donut was ******* fantastic too.

Breakfast spots:
- Mama's (Crowd favorite, overrated to me).
- Plow (heard it's good, yet to try).
- Griddle fresh (pretty good).
- I'll try to add some more.

Random:
- San Tung (Chinese food) chicken wings and potstickers are a must get.
- Waterbar $1 oysters, not huge, but still worth the $1 IMO, ceviche pretty good too.
- Chaya Brasserie Dinner spot on the embarcadero, nice view as the sun sets. Get their bread pudding for dessert!
- House of Prime Rib - Fancy schmancy spot, $50/person without wine. I like it, it's good, but it's a "special occasion" place - So I don't go there too often.

LMK what other stuff you like to eat.

Plow is solid, but the wait gets a little long unless you get there around the open time - it's partly because it's a small restaurant.

I prefer Brendas, but again, lines.

There's a solid chicken joint not too far from it too if you don't want to deal with the line.

In the Marina, I like Mamacita a lot.
Others: Terzo, Nob Hill Cafe, Park Tavern
Have done water bar for holiday parties, it's good. Chaya we had brunch at, pretty good actually.

Oh but it does. Magically.

Think of it as a breakfast meat.

You have bacon with breakfast. Sausage with breakfast. Ham with breakfast. Steak with breakfast.

Just substitute the gloriousness of fried chicken for any of those.

My dad buys Filipino spaghetti sauce whenever he's on vacation back home. I still can't make it taste good as other people's though.

Jufran + sugar?

btw... i'm back from Phoenix. Pics coming... Get ready.
