FOOD THREAD VOL. GRUB LIFE

Had an odd encounter at the grocery store about 2 weeks back: I was on line to check out and there were 2 people in front of me—both had maybe 10 items max. There were 2 other lines open with 1 person on each line but their carts were almost overflowing. The cashier said to me “those other lines are still open, you know” and I just nodded my head and stayed where I was. She spent the next 15-20 seconds making passive-aggressive comments like “not sure why you’d pick this line” and “you could get out of here faster if you went to another register.”

I stood my ground and got out of the store before the other cashiers were done ringing up the people with full carts.

I only shop at Costco or this place by me called kowalskis.

Kowalskis doesn’t even have self checkout.

It’s a nicer place and I’m sure the clientele and union would both start a riot if they did that.

You thought it was milk. I explained the crema on top of the espresso.

Clear pint glass this time:

Watching the last person in the line you passed on to make sure you check out faster and picked the right lane is a time honored tradition.

This one. Fairly basic and seems to work well. Easy cleanup

I have the same one. Very simple, makes great ice cream, and it's a ton of fun to play around with flavors.

Favorite I've done has been cookies and cream I literally use almost an entire package of Oreos.. and then I did a burnt peach that was really good.

Day 4 of the real hunger games aka Ramadan. Today's Iftaar consisted of pizza from one of our local spots & a burrito from our fave halal Mexican spot. Pizza from here is always on point. For dessert I'm trying Marie Callender's for the first time.

Right after she was done you should've said 'And that's why I didn't go on those other lines.'

Lol, pretty much. No eating or drinking anything all day & after sunset, feast! It's hard to eat much after half a days fast especially if you drink a lot of water or other liquids while breaking the fast. Liquids fill you up pretty damn quick.

Never had Napoli’s. I’ve heard of that pizzeria tho because of Action Bronson, who mentioned it in his first book. He grew up in Electchester. I know the area a little bit, I used to do volunteer work at the elementary school in Pomonok and my high school is around that area (RFK). Is Napoli’s worth a trip?
