Got in a crash vol. Rear ender need advice

my fault. I slammed the brakes my car slid into the back of his.

He has an old 1999 nissan frontier truck
I offered to repair the car crash he needs a bumper and tailgate.
He said no you can either buy the truck or we can go the insurance route.

So if i go the insurance route from yal experience how much does it go up?

Hes asking 3000 for the truck should i try to cop for 2000 and just sell?

I just wanna avoid insurance
