Any of you drink these?

I stayed with a cousin of mine last month and she starts her day with a green smoothie every day. Challenged me to do the same. After a few tries, I made one I like, so I've been drinking one every day ever since.

I'm not sure I'm seeing the health benefits she mentioned.

I mean, they're good, and I know it's more healthy than doing without, but I feel like I'm the same. I don't know.

Feels like I recover from sports quicker, I can definitely say that. If I played 2-3 hours of basketball before, I'd definitely wake up the next day sore as hell. Now? Definitely not. I wake up the next morning, and I'm good.

Could be in my head, though. Like I said, I don't know.

Thoughts? Experiences? Jokes?

Not as a meal replacement, no. Is that what they're supposed to be, meal replacements? I was just told to drink one first thing in the morning, like VERY first thing. So pretty much it's like my appetizer to breakfast every day which has obviously made my breakfasts much smaller.

What's in mine?

- big bunch of kale
- 1 c. apple juice
- a thing of yogurt (Yoplait, 6 ozs)
- 2 bananas
- about a dozen strawberries
- 3 tbs. honey
- dash of cinnamon

That fills my blender jar up, 40 ozs, and I split that into 2 days.

I just switched from Amazing Grass to Vitamineral Green...supposedly the best green powder out their. Stuff is strong... I find myself just mixing 1/4th teaspoon in a cup of water.

As for smoothies...I haven't made any yet. But if I was to make one I would just use some grass/fruit powder, some kiwis, a banana, and 1% milk with some crushed ice.

i've never made a one myself, but i'm drinking a bolthouse green goodness right now

the Naked Green Machine and Bolthouse taste exactly the same and you can get a big

bottle of Bolthouse for the price of a small Naked.

1.Green smoothies are very nutritious. The ratio in them is optimal for human consumption; about 60% ripe organic fruit mixed with about 40% organic greens.
2. Green smoothies are easy to digest. When blended well, most of the cells in the greens and fruits are ruptured, making the valuable nutrients easy for the body to assimilate. Green smoothies literally start to get absorbed in your mouth.

3.Green smoothies, as opposed to juices, are a complete food because they still have fiber. Consuming fiber is important for our elimination system.

4.Green smoothies belong to the most palatable dishes for all humans of all ages. With a ratio of fruits to veggies as 60:40 the fruit taste dominates the flavor, yet at the same time the greens balance out the sweetness of the fruit, adding a nice zest to it. People who eat a standard American diet enjoy the taste of green smoothies. They are usually quite surprised that something so green could taste so nice.

5.A molecule of chlorophyll closely resembles a molecule of human blood. According to teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore, "consuming chlorophyll is like receiving a healthy blood transfusion". Many people do not consume enough greens, even those who stay on a raw food diet. By drinking two or three cups of green smoothies daily you will consume enough greens for the day to nourish your body, and all of the beneficial nutrients will be well assimilated.

6.Green smoothies are easy to make, and quick to clean up after. In contrast, juicing greens is time consuming, messy, and expensive. Many people abandon drinking green juices on a regular basis for those reasons. To prepare a pitcher of green smoothie takes less than 5 minutes, including cleaning.

7.Green smoothies have proven to be loved by children of all ages, including babies of six or more months old. Of course you have to be careful and slowly increase the amount of smoothies to avoid food allergies.

8.When consuming your greens in the form of green smoothies, you are greatly reducing the consumption of oils and salt in your diet.

9.Regular consumption of green smoothies forms a good habit of eating greens. After a few weeks of drinking green smoothies, most people start to crave and enjoy eating more greens. Eating enough greens is often a problem with many people, especially children.

10. While fresh is always best, green smoothies will keep in cool temperatures for up to three days, which can be handy at work and while traveling.

I drink 1-2 of these a week...I know it's not the same as freshly made but it's still good. I just wish they didn't cost $4.00 a bottle

Cop the big bottle at Costco dvdjamm5150. Way cheaper than buying those little bottles.

I had both the naked and bolthouse farms drinks. They taste delicious...but have a crapload of sugar.

Tastes like a fruit smoothie. I can't really taste the broccoli and other stuff in it.

And like GrimlocK said, there's a crapload of sugar so I only drink half of the small bottle per day

These are cool, but they are hella sweet though. I just had one of these for breakfast.
When I'm not in a rush, I usually make mine in the blender but they are rarely green. usually pink.  my smoothies are usually strawberry, banana, oj, or milk with some berries, apples, peaches, grapes, honey, nutmeg, a dash of vanilla or whatever i feel like using to spice it up

This is what I use for green juice. This brand taste the best, but the flavor may take some getting used to if you're a picky eater.  Just some of this in a glass of water or oj is a good wake up and go to bed drink, plus it gets your bowels moving.

I've been drinking green smoothies for the past 3 years. I got tired of eating porridge with blueberries and flax seed every morning and I found it didn't really fuel my workout. Cooked food dehydrates you and is tough to digest. So I stumbled on green smoothies and haven't looked back. The first time I went for a run after drinking a green smoothie, I felt like Barry Bonds when he was hitting 70 HR's.

I usually drink 1000 calories worth a day for breakfast and lunch. I bought a Vitamix blender last year and now I'm cranking them out like Jamba Juice. It's an awesome piece of machinery.

Today's smoothie:
2 ataulfo mangos
6 bananas (3 frozen)
fuji apple
handful of spinach
2 stalks celery
chunk of cucumber
2 medjool dates
frozen blueberries

I'd say each smoothie costs around $3-$4 which is pretty amazing considering the amount of calories and nutrients. And people say eating healthy is expensive.

$1 x 3 = $3 for 3 bunches of kale @ $.98 each
$3 x 2 = $6 for a couple packages of whole strawberries @ $2.98 a package
$1.50 x 3 = $4.50 for yogurt @ 2 for $1
+ $2.50 for a big thing of apple juice
______
$16

The bananas are $.50 a pound, so 2 bananas is a small amount of change. Factoring the cost of the cinnamon and honey into each batch would come to fractions of pennies.

But that right there will make me three 40 ozs batches.

40 ozs x 3 = 120 ozs

How much would 120 ozs of Naked or Bolthouse be?

At $4 for a 15 oz bottle of Naked, that's about $32, exactly double. Factor in that Naked has sugar in it, and isn't custom made the way you like it, and the decision to make your own green smoothies is clearly the better one.
