I was more speaking in general based on what I've seen/hear first hand and what I see men and women post on social media. I've watched this trend morph over the past decade or so. From the struggle fly out with no money days to first date flyouts and baecations with people they barely know.
I don't think any of those things really matter especially his financial situation that logic is similar to it aint trickin if you got it. If I had to guess she was in a major city so the flight wasn't expensive. To me it's more cliche/corny not the whole don't spend money on women narrative.
People who don't have it emulate the people with disposable income. So it all looks the same on the front end.
Interesting perspective. Thanks for sharing. I don’t use social media (outside of NT if you consider that social media) so the whole first date flyout thing is a foreign concept to me (I imagine that is how that begins) so it’s hard to fathom. I think the demographic I generally find myself with would not be down for a first date fly out anyway but I wa unaware it was commonplace as we enter 2023. The “baecation” is a bit more reasonable depending how much you have talked prior to the first date, how many dates you’ve gone on before the trip, etc.
I guess we can agree to disagree on the financial situation not being of importance. Assuming you are flying them to your residence it will run at least $1K-$1500 for a full weekend (Friday night to Sunday afternoon) between the round trip ticket, meals, drinks and miscellaneous expenses. Meeting up a third party location where you have to travel and get a hotel room that’s $2500+ easy. That might be a lot to some people whereas it is a drop in the bucket to others. And as far as cliche/corny, I think it also depends on if you wanted to go there, if she Jedi mind tricked you into it, if you do this normally, etc.
And to your sentence - that is exactly why the financial situation matters. If you are doing this and do not have the disposable income to do it then you are beyond a simp. You are an imbecile and irresponsible.
I cannot believe it has come to this
