You read that wrong then.
The black capitalist is Jay-Z, who uses the pretense of fighting for black liberation to position himself as the power broker between the white elite and the ghetto dweller.
It's not really different from the dynamic that has existed between the former colonial power, the local elite of the former colony appointed by the government of the metropole, and the local folks: hijacking the demands of "your" people to advance your own goals.

This what W.E.B Dubois was talking about with the idea of boule affiliated black leadership and the talented tenth.
They felt a small fraction of light skinned educated blacks were good enough to deal with whites on their level. This is yet another modern manifestation of that ideal. A real defeatist mentality.

I don't see any of his actions as that of wylin'. I don't see any of Kaep's actions as wylin' either. My point is that I'd like to see the entire conversation, not simply that clip.

The rappers who truly want to make a difference in the black community, to a point where they would be willing to sacrifice their rap careers, like Ali and Kaep were willing to do with their careers... It's not that they don't exist, it's just that you've never heard of them because those people weren't willing to sell their souls in order to climb the mainstream commercial ladder.

Thing is those dudes sacrifice their livelihood, fade into bolivia, then are celebrated in public and used as a deterrent talking point by the same people who got them out the paint and retain their power. What's really the right steps to progress here to seize control from those folks?
