if you renew your contract you should be eligable for an upgrade. but other that its a new 2 yr contract i believe.

i think iy your are eligible you should have no problem, just resign a new contract.
to be eligible, you need to be under contract for atleast a year (maybe more).
they probably wanna move the 3g's, so you shouldnt have much of a problem.

If you already have an iPhone, you can upgrade it for $99, if not, either wait the 2 years (or however long you have left), or new contract
I got the first gen. iPhone on release(
) day, had it until the 3G came out,paid the $200 for it, and upgraded to the 3GS last week for $200+tax.

All you have to do is call them up and tell them you want to renew for a two year contract and you'll qualify for the $99 phone. Doesn't matter ifyou're new or exsiting and renew. you're good just call them up.
