how did they make rope ladders over wide cliffs to the other side?

like really really old bridges over canyons, would they throw 2 ropes over and then make it as they go?
wouldn't it be really easy to fall from that?

this is just something that is mind boggling to me right now, and can't think of a safe way to make them.

maybe found the strongest rock thrower in the village or used bow and arrow and just pelted that +#*% across in hopes of someone grabbing it on the other side.

"Rope bridges"

My guess is they would build the bridge, then lasso one end across to the other side. Then some brave soul will climb/crawl across the rope bridge and tie the other end.

Don't know. But, it's pretty obvious that no "test runs" were ever given. The bridge always falls apart when people try to cross em in the movies.

The only way I can think of is that they would have the rope bridge built, drop it on one side then someone goes to the bottom
Of the canyon and grab that end of the bridge. Then they would take that end across to the other side and somehow climb the
Canyon while holding on to their end of the rope bridge. Finally once they climbed that side of The canyon they would fasten the
Bridge and it would be suspended across The canyon.

I'm pretty sure they just catapulted their lightest human to the other side - This is also how bungee jumping was invented, due to some people getting catapulted too short.
