That !+!# happens to me too. I figured it was either my socks or shoes, even when I would run on the treadmill it would happen. IDK, it has happened in a while though.

To OP, I've never been a "runner," I prefer to ride my bike or play basketball to stay in shape, but I can say a good pair of running shoes and music is good motivation to run. I acutally ran in a 5K this past Saturday and finished in 34 minutes. It isn't a world record Kenyan time, but I was proud of myself for at least finishing at running most of the way.
Could be something completely different but if it only happens occasionally, I learned that when exercising without the adequate hydration and nutrition your body uses glutatmic acid as fuel and when it does it causes that prickly feeling in your legs when you run/exercise.
If you're getting that feeling soon after you start running when you should have plenty left in the tank, that could be what it is.

Well I make sure I am always over-hydrated and stretch properly before I start running. So I just avoid it at all costs.

I am horrible at basketball, my sport is baseball which you all know requires a lot less running than basketball or soccer haha

If you don't like basketball tennis is another good cardio sport...

I try to play bball once or twice a week in place of running or doing cardio at the gym.

I love running. I love running in the snow, in the rain, when it's hot, whenever, wherever. There's nothing better than hitting the pavement and being alone with just yourself and your thoughts.

I've actually just started to get into running after reading Haruki Murakami's "What I talk about when I talk about running"

It isn't a particularly inspiring book, but it did give me some motivation to start running as a practise of self-discipline.
t think of it like: If I can't even bring myself to run for 30 minutes a day... then what else will I not be able to do in the future?

I have the flattest feet, my arches are almost non-exhistent. Orthotics have helped a ton, also, look for shoes with tons of pronation support. The Asics Foundations are good.
I use Nike Traix's with superfeet arch supports.

running is all about breaking through barriers. fatigue, boredom, pain. it's not for everybody.

Also, just getting out and doing it takes a lot of effort for people, myself included.

I just end up sucking it up and getting it over with. The most I'll jog is usually capped at only 2 miles. I don't feel a need to go further. I do really hate/enjoy interval training. 15 sec spring/1 min jog for up to 15-20 mins.

The feeling you get after running is great.
