After Virginia Tech I thought about that occasionally. Especially classrooms with just one entrance/exit.

Gunman comes in, takes the hottest girl in class as a hostage. I rush the main guy, get hit in the arm (non-serious of course), stop all the bad guys, proclaimed a hero. 
Nail the hot girl after class.. then Ms. Romero in the evening.
