I'm 24 Years Old and I Think I'm Gonna Get Back Into the Shoe Game

I'm 22 and I haven't bought a pair of Jordans or Nikes in the last year or so. I used to own over 100 pair of shoes and sold them all. Now I got like 15 pairs, and I don't even wear those. I wear nothing but classic vans, chucks and Claes now. I spend all my money on bills, college, entertaiment systems, funitures, and cars > sneakers.

And when I see a guy my age stuntin' with a "Fresh" pair of "Jay's" on and a matching Tee, I just think like man I was on that 10 years ago, not talking about the real sneakerheads, just talking about the "stunnas" at the mall.

Dang to think about, I haven't even bought any new clothes in forever! Been wearing same ol' clothes and polos to work (office job) and my girl buys me a tee here and there so I won't look like a bum when I go out with her. haha

wow. i am 31, and i have a job that has me pushing a company that most people have an opinion about, especially here. hah. everyone really tells me how socially irresponsible i am being by working for such a moraly "incorrect" or "incompetent" or socially wrong company, it does not matter. it makes me happy. i had a "much" better job, and now i just don't do that much, get to stay home, go to malls and populated culture areas to see what sub-cultures do, how well pop-culture is, how gimmicky things can and cannot be, sit in at conference calls, read trend data, and make sure kids are actually buying those AJF releases, especially those VI's that look like ponchos. i am fulfilled, and have easily over 2k pairs, do what you like in this life, and if you like something else different, or like something more, that's okay, do that then. at least you are not on pornotalk man.

I buy what I like because I like shoes. My wife and I both just love shoes.
You can convince yourself that. FOlks don't buy expensive things because THEY like them. They do it for the fanfare and attention. Most folks are in denial about this so I understand your stance.
See you're talking about someone like SupremeApe

There are people out there that truly collect sneakers as a passion. They are the people that could care less about other dudes giving them props. They've always liked kicks their entire lives, they don't care if they "waste" money on sneakers when they could be buying something more "useful"

A game? what the hell is this game?

Great. DC is back

Beat me to it

My thoughts:

- Never a game
- I've always liked shoes
- I still buy what I like, couldn't care less what's hyped

- FTR, Hypebeasts are just people who have a flaunting attitude because of what they have/wear.

i've been on a 10 year run....im in different about da whole thing, cuz i don't really buy or collect to "impress" anyone..but for that very

reason its hard to stop...i've been coppin kicks for nostalgia and design aspects, had i just been coppin for "hype" it would've been alot

easier to drop.

being on NT however has taught me things that far outweigh anything in da footwear genre....da culture overall of being fly just transcends to

everything though.

I'm sorry but around 19 I did the same thing, left the shoe game, I'm 22 now and I can sincerely say best decision of my life. Don't do it homie!! save that money

that....was.....DEEP!

formalities are so corny though man....I will simply love sneakers and wear sneakers until I die....there is no leaving and coming back to the game

i buy a new pair like once every 3 months instead of 3 or 4 pairs a month like i used to... so am i still in the game ?

cool man.. the release of the VIs is the first pair of recent Js i bought in like a year or 2 tho

I took a step back recently. I saw how many sneaks I had and couldn't wear them all. And still wanted all the newest pairs.
I fell back, copped just some casual stuff. Fought off the temptations.
Only copped the white red 12s cause those are my "holy grails", but yo I feel pumped up to get all of em again

Funny I see this post.. cuz I was in the JB forum the other day, checking out some upcoming releases. There really needs to be more structure in that forum though. The list they have looks so amateurish. I'd have to google the name of the shoe to see what it looks like.

I can't say that I saw anything that I liked.

I am in the same boat as you are. I have other bills and responsibiities. And plus, I don't even go out to places where I would need to wear sneakers. I'm more satisfy to wear flip flops and sandals.

I don't consider myself in some "game". It's not that serious to me, I buy what I like or what I couldn't afford back in the day. Simple as that, no selling or keeping shoes on ice just to impress other people. I buy shoes to wear them.

. I really slowed down once i move out on my own 5 years ago. Now i'm married with a kid on the way, shoes are the last thing on my mind.

By the time i was 21 i had around 70-80 pairs of sneaker. After selling most or giving it to my younger brother i'm done to around 30 pairs now.

Only time i'm ever gonna blow money on shoes is on my child. I ain't raising no sketchers wearing rugrat

QFT!
once you get a taste, there's no way you let your kid walk around in anything less than nike.

You are gonna regret it...I ended my shoe collecting days at 22 and haven't looked back (24 now).
I always think of the stuff I could've had if I hadn't wasted money on shoes that I barely wore.
