Just the CI not the lifestyle lol.
That’s what I’m getting as well but I have to come back to finish because my dumbass didn’t disclose I was smashing in another country in 2018 (stories might be in hinge thread maybe). Idk why I didn’t tell them for some reason, wasn’t trying to withhold the info just had a mental block

Best to be forthcoming. You don’t want to give them a reason to question your integrity or scruples.

Yeah I realize now and fortunately I have a retest date so I’ll tell them everything regardless

That's why I hate clearances. I really don't remember some of the stuff you want me to clarify.
I had some ish happen when I was in college in 2012, something slight that you’d forget about in a year or so. Fast forward 2019 when I had my initial interview for my clearance and they asked why I didn’t tell them about the ish from 2012. Straight up said I forgot all about that which so much that had happened in between.

Usually they want to know if you’ve had mental health issues, bankruptcy or financial difficulties, foreign contacts, etc.
See I did and didn’t think foreign contacts included a ting you smashed on vacation and that’s what caught me up today

If it was a one time thing…I wouldn’t consider that a foreign contract unless you’ve maintained contact with her. Or did for a period of time.

Was out there twice for vacation in 2018 and messed with the same chick both times. Haven’t spoken to that woman since then or even thought about her

I reckon it’s better to be too broad than too limited, no?
I don’t have experience with security clearances in particular but that’s always been my strategy for dealing with broad questions like ‘describe this transaction’ that are kinda designed to test the scope of your honesty.

To prepare written statements or in person interviews I always make a ‘conspiracy flowchart’ that lays out how a dumb and/or overly accusatory person would interpret certain information or lack thereof in a response.

Yeah it’s wise to just be straight up no matter how trivial. Again I just got caught up in my mind thinking if it would matter or not and it did

Comptia gonna mess around and make me pull up on them.

So had to submit my ceu's right to keep my Sec + active as it's a requirement to be in my seat (TS clearance, admin level blah blah blah), so I does all I am supposed to do and pay and upload my credit activites and submit it before my deadline and log back in and no new cert with a new date 3yrs out has been generated. So I call and allegedly there was a system error around that time where whatever system automatically generates new dated certificates once its paid and ll he requirements are met, had malfunctioned and their tier 2 is having to go back through how many they have and do it manually. And allegedly tier 2 is only 2 people. It has been over 2 months. I call back every day and ask for a supervisor/escalation and just get told the same thing, we're wroking on it, we have a lot of tickets to get to. Should be a few more days. I had been studying cissp and by that I literally just had the thought and bought a book called cissp in 10 days but cant even tell you the most basic thing yet, minus well just get a new cert because whenever some GS15=/SES runs a new report and it shows I dont have Sec+ or its expired, could be my ***. I guess I could just redo the sec+ again too, I could probably just pass that without even studying again but even still will be a lost cost associated

Like they are literally a cerification authority, you exist for no other reason. 2 months is crazy, and to not have the ability to just generate something, a pdf, I can use in its stead, it's literally just take the same one and put a new date on + 3 yrs of the last one, is unacceptable. I finally told them yall gotta send me an email with my ticket number and history or something in case I need to show it to someone and they said they would but it'd drop my ticket back down to the bottom of the q. These ****** basically sent me a blank email with a ticket number that is useless because their system isnt one with like a link someone can click into. I told my boss and them already though and nobody's tripping as of yet

does anyone have a secret clearance? how long did your process take?

also, how about a interim secret clearance? how long did it take for that if you had one

^^^Wish I had a better answer. All I know is they’re usually good for 10 years and not as involved as a TS.

Shouldn’t be too long or crazy as long as you don’t have anything glaring.
