does anyone have a secret clearance? how long did your process take?

also, how about a interim secret clearance? how long did it take for that if you had one
When I was getting my clearance in 2019, it took about a year and this was before the pandy so it may be better or worse timeframe wise now. I know before I left that job they were processing clearances a lot faster like in about 1-3 months.

For the interim, as long as you don’t have anything in your background that requires significant vetting then you should have that within a month. It’s good for 10 years until having to resubmit anything

If you’re out of college, you may not have many choices these days.

What was weirder was that the person was from CDW. I didn’t even know they recruited.

Been studying for the az 900 and I actually used what I learned today.

We needed to host an image that can be accessed via https that had user instructions on how to use something. It had to be accessible with no authentication.

I offered we use azure containers and upload a blob with anonymous read access and that’s the direction we went.

I felt like a genius lol 😂

I retire from the Army in about 3.5 years but I’m not even sure if I wanna continue in IT. These jobs looking kinda spooky :lol

Anyway, signed up for a class and will be taking SecurityX in April.

Been interviewing for the past couple of weeks. Haven't gotten through a couple of rounds of interviews but no offers yet. Still applying and trying..

I was suppose to be partially retired via the crypto bullrun but that never really happened. Got laid off last April and been chilling for about 6 months and just trying to get back in the mix..

Goin mg for the AZ 104 next.

Any tips?
Don’t sleep. I failed that exam the first time I did it. Definitely lab up and be familiar with capabilities and where things are in the Azure web UI and command line.

I’ve only taken two AWS exams CC and AWS Solutions Architect Associate. But AZ305 and AZ104 were definitely kicks in the Richards for me. Definitely recommend Tutorial Dojo or the Measureup exams. The Measureup test questions are similar to the Official Microsoft exam. The Tutorial exams probably explain the concepts better.

Appreciate it. Looks like all of Reddit is recommending tutorial dojo too.

How much weight does the AZ 104 hold? Did it help you in finding a job?

I have it.
What I can say about it is it's hard, mostly because it’s broad and time-pressured, not because the concepts are crazy.
And to answer your question about it having weight, It definitely has weight, it just depends on the role. It’s more valuable for cloud admin or Azure-focused jobs. I haven’t directly used mine yet, but it helped me build the knowledge, and it’s something I can leverage when the right opportunity comes up, especially in government or contractor roles.

How long did it take you to study for it?

Can’t really provide great feedback. I’m an old head who only left the military a few years ago and went into federal contracting.

I’m sure an active clearance and the cert will get you a cloud admin role. Expanding it and knowing automation via terraform or powershell, bicep templates will help too.

It just depends on the shop. They might also do M365 and Intune. Knowledge and skills can be a deep rabbit hole.

Mind you this doesn’t even cross over to GCP or AWS.

That's especially annoying in handhelds, that makes the SteamOS ones better. Only problem is not everything is compatible.
