D.C. clean?

Tokyo is clean. Singapore is clean. It comes down to values and discipline. We don't have good ones here, and as a result, places look terrible. Blame authorities for not enforcing anything either.

Would these people litter if they were living in a clean neighborhood? I wonder.
I don't think so but at the same time that's why the neighborhood your living in is dirty cause you wouldn't do it in a clean place but its "okay" cause in the inner city its already dirty.  That is silly and with that thinking it will always be dirty until the culture is changed and/or gentrify the neighborhood.  I really wish cats wouldn't be so bad with the littering esp the used condoms on peoples door knobs, steps, etc (true story) that isn't cool at all.

Yup, all you can do is your part, OP.

If I'm at a place like my favorite beach, I take the time out to help clean up. Sure, it burns me that I'm picking up after someone's lazy behind, but in the end, it's to my benefit, because I'll be enjoying a cleaner beach. Not to mention, the chicks dig it (and sometimes even offer to help).

To think of how some of these litterbugs must live ...

Lazy, careless, trashy people everywhere do it. I walking my girl home last night and as we passed a near by bus stop where there is a trash can 5-10 feet away, foot wrappers littered the ground.

The local city governments need to lower the boom big time. I think here in Cincinnati, its a $500 fine or they're pushing for it. I'm in favor of it if the person does it multiple times (2-3+) and is caught. Pretty stiff for a first offense.

Bro, I'm from D.C. and when I went to NY and took the train, i almost wanted to die. Train was packed, the station stinks of pee and crackhead juice. D.C has been proven to have one of the cleanest stations, but D.C is still dirty

People in general are dirty. When littering fines start to get enforced, thats when our streets will get clean. Until then, I'm gonna drop my burger wrapper on the ground and piss on the sidewalk. Thank you

Mannn
I was just thinkin this yesterday...
Was driving in my hood "Brooklyn"
& saw these 2 dudes on the corner eating a hero...
They were picking thru it & throwing out everything they didn't want ON the floor
I scanned the vicinity...
Not ONE garbage can on the 4 corners of that intersection...
Does this make it right? NO...they prolly wud have done so even if a can was w/in 5 feet
But they do need to have more garbage cans IMO
Not gonna front...I do this when driving...
I stay throwing $$# out my window...
I've tried to stop b/c my nefews watch everything I do & will pick up the habit...

If I recall, Metro "says" they vacuum each car every night, and shampoo them once a week

I know they're still 100x cleaner than most trains though.

From CS:

The scene: Orange Line, approaching Vienna.

With people in car standing, a man wearing large (6-inch long, by the looks of it), silver cross around neck has his feet stretched out across his seat (an Unsuck Riders-We-Hate no-no).

Lounging up a storm, he's reading newspaper, casually dropping read sections on the floor.

The train pulls into the station, and we get up to leave.

A rough transcript of what ensued:

Me (pointing at pile on floor): I think you forgot your newspaper.

Him: (Shaking head knowingly) It's alright.

Me: No, it's not alright. You're not supposed to leave trash on the train.

Him: Don't be so petty.

Me: Me, petty? You're the one who left the trash on the train.

Him: This country is falling apart.

Me: I agree with you there, but that doesn't change the fact that you left your trash on the train.

Him: Don't be so petty.

Me: You're the one who left the trash. Where do you get off doing that?

Him: You should go to church more. Don't be so petty.

Whereupon we parted on the platform.

Made me wonder: Where would Jesus litter?

A sense of entitlement that people have making them assume someone else will take care of them and clean up their mess.

Disgusting lazy people.

Stiff? In other countries it's even worse, Americans need some tough discipline when it comes to trash. I would impose $1000 and see who does it.

So am I, and I'm telling you... travel to Tokyo and look at their trains and then come back to D.C. NY is just trash in general, I hate riding trains in NY. But D.C. isn't the greatest either, and Metro in general ought to be ashamed raising rates.

I wish I could #!!@$ slap everyone in this thread that openly admits they litter. Straight up scumbags.

Like, for real? Y'all just throw trash out your car window or just toss @$+@ on the street?

Actions like that speak volumes about what kind of people you are and how you were raised.
