I'm assuming you have a PC, so...
Click on the iPod drive from My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options and find "View hidden folders", or something like that. After that a folder called "iPod Control" should be visible.
Click on that, then click on the "Music" folder. In that folder there will be a whole bunch of other folders with your music them. Just copy and paste them to you cpu hard drive...

Xilisoft Ipod Rip just used it and it only made a back up of 101 songs out of the remaining 1000 that's left
