So I tore my meniscus monday night playin basketball and missed all my classes wednesday. (I only have MWF classes) I have a doctors note and everything. Iemailed all my professors Tuesday evening to tell them I wouldn't be in class and that I'd bring my assignments (if any were due) on Friday. All myprofessors wished me luck in the snow and attatched exactly what we'd be covering in class EXCEPT my stat professor. This is the email he sent:
Looks like you've used up all your excuses for the semester. The knee I can understand. Stuff happens. Of course, youhad a week to work on this and you choose to wait until the day before it was due.
The rest of this is just really lame and tells me you don't pay attention in class very much. I'll talked aboutneeding Minitab for these assignments several times. Were you listening?
OK. You can bring the homework to class Friday. The password for the quiz will be_______. Also due Friday by the start ofclass. I was going to go over the quiz in class today. Now I can't.
I expect this to be the last time we have a conversation like this. In fact, I am certain of it.
Good Luck.
We use a PC only based program for homework, and apparently quizzes. I had to wait until Mondays class to take notes on things I needed for both and hurt myknee that night. I was in the hospital for the majority of Tuesday and didn't put it high on my priority list to hobble into the lab and do them both. Isthis email justified?
CLIFF NOTES*
Ok so I talked to the professor today after class, he said that his email was like that because of the hundreds of kids he gets alwayslooking for a handout and he assumed I was one of them. When I came in with my brace and crutches he seemed kind of shocked. So I was like "I'm sorryfor the tone of the last email I sent, I was really frustrated at the time and your email just kinda added to it. I've never been one to look for specialtreatment and I REALLY appreciate you keeping the quiz open for me" He said it was no problem at all, and to "keep up the great work" as hehanded me back my homework with a 15/15.
This may not have been the way to handle it, but it somehow worked out. He now knows my name, knows I pay attention in his class, and knows I'm not aslacker. Guess I caught a break
