And that's on the raiders for still having a crappy qb situation although a subpar Carson Palmer is a million times better then jawalrus would ever be. The raiders sucking is moreso on al Davis then anything. I hope they suck forever but their gm should be able to turn it around if given the time.
But to the raiders credit regardless of their current situation, they got it right by cutting him loose when they did. He was pretty much the black Ryan leaf

Sidenote: CLK was against drafting Jamarcus. Word is that he wanted Calvin Johnson instead, but obviously overruled.

This is true. Kitten also made the team wear white for the first time in its history at home because it was supposed to be a historically warm that day. It was 78 degrees. He also had Janikowski attempt a 70+ yard field goal. Kitten is a dip****.

Jamarcus was one of the best players in Madden for 3+ seasons. Could through 80 yards on the run off the back foot. For that reason alone I think he deserves back on an NFL roster.

Dude just was unmotivated, he had physical talent but his work ethic was nonexistent. Thats THE worst thing you can have in a quarterback, let alone any professional athlete. You can manage marginal talent but someone works hard (see Alex Smith) but you cannot take on a guy with talent who doesn't even care about studying film, working out, and setting the example as the leader of the team. It's kinda sad tbh, there's hundreds of guys who would want to be in his position and he threw it all away.....dude hosed the Raiders but they should've done their hw, I can't believe that there were ZERO warning signs about this guys attitude, work habits, and ability to study film in the classroom...guy would come in to training camp at around 280-290lbs

I could see him making a comeback at 32-33, but dude is probably still not mature enough to really try hard enough at this point in his life.

Straight from my home town we were so hype to have someone going pro at such a high pick. It was obvious his work ethic wasn't there tho. He was always at parties and random events down here in mobile so it was kinda evident what his priorities were. I honestly feel that his actions accelerated al Davis' passing. All of that stress over money lost/your team plummeting can't be good for you.
But in his defense, im gonna let you guys in on something that most people dont know about: one of JRs BIGGEST supporters/mentor was his uncle, who was a well known radio personality in the city, ray ray russel.he passed around that time and I think that affected JR heavily. Pretty much the same thing we're seeing amare stoudemire go through with the loss of his brother. On top of that, he didnt have that level headed father figure in his corner, just his boys who may or may not hav3 been down with him for real. People are so quick to pass judgment without knowing all the details. Random tidbit: son had a black Phantom, drophead Phantom and a mint green 7 series.
He's a little bit older and possibly wiser now. At 27 he still has some gas in thrle tank so I don't see why a garbage team wouldn't just pick him up.

While it is the biggest bust ever, the Raiders have far more to blame than one draft pick as to why they continue to suck. Think of all they gave up for Palmer, and what has he given them? He is a bum. Seems like they are always trading their draft picks away and when they do have one they pick terrible players anyways. They always are firing their coaches, seems like they never have a chance to even try to move the team in the right direction.

Let's break this down a bit.
If we look at who the Raiders drafted first over the past decade, we can see who the players are and what their reputation coming out of college was:
2003: Nnamdi Asomugha
2004: Robert Gallery
2005: Fabian Washington
2006: Michael Huff
2007: JaMarcus Russell
2008: Darren McFadden
2009: Darrius Heyward-Bey
2010: Rolando McClain
2011: Stefen Wizniewski (2nd round)
2012: Tony Bergstrom (3rd round)
This is clearly a mixed group in terms of success in the NFL. Nnamdi became a star after converting positions, Michael Huff remains a starter, McFadden is still playing and could use a real line/OC to play with, Heyward-Bey is not a #1 option but his numbers are respectable for a second/third option, and Wizniewski has done well so far in his term. The rest? Busts, the worst offender being Russell, who never even attempted to live up to the expectations of his draft slot. Were there extenuating circumstances that led to Russell struggling to live up to his potential? Sure, why not. I've heard/read that talk as well. But since the bottom line remains clear: he failed to become the QB that he was drafted to be and that has helped to continue the Raiders' bottom-five status.
What's important to note, though, is that many of these players were thought to be safe and obvious picks. Robert Gallery was a four year starter at Iowa, All American his senior year, an all-Big-10 first teamer and achieved academically his sophomore year on. He had the build and the mind to succeed in the NFL and he was expected to be the left tackle for the Raiders for a long time. Now? Retired, having never made the Pro Bowl.
Fabian Washington was another who many thought would do well in the league, and though the Raiders drafted him earlier than most would, he was definitely a late first-rounder/early second round kind of pick. He lasted only three seasons in the league, and when he learned the Raiders were shopping him was quoted as saying, "I would have traded myself."
Rolando McClain was another supposed safe pick, leading college's best defense and playing his best when it mattered most in the national championship game. He was motivated from the get-go, calling the team and asking for playbooks to study a few days after the draft so he could begin preparing. His fall is another big blow to the team.
There are a lot of reasons the Raiders are terrible, many of which came from an owner who is no longer around. But the main reason the team has been terrible is because when it needed to rebuild after the Super Bowl run, its draft picks didn't pan out like most thought it would.
