Jobless and Frustrated NTers check in VOL. WE NOT-WORKIN!!!

Left a job back in May to take on a new role. Was let go after a few months due to not being a good fit with the manager. So now i'ts been about a month. Been on 2 actual interviews, a pre screen and then have another interview tomorrow but man it sucks.

So this year i'm going through a divorce and now unemployed in the last quarter of the year. But those choices were mine and while one may not have worked out I look at the positives of it but man staying positive right now sucks with the fear i might need to access my 401k if i don't want to sell my condo and move back home.

I've become a much bigger believer in everything happens for a reason so i am trying to stay positive and manifest good stuff but boy the loneliness sometimes gets to you.

I took a job in a refinery, it’s short and sweet only there a couple months but the pay is stupid.

Yeah it’s a total **** hole gross place to work but it’s the first time I ever had a set schedule.

I don’t think I can go back to never knowing when I get off again after this. Applied to a government job here at city of mpls. They need 8 guys/girls and it’s laid back.
 
Lost my job recently and the loneliness is crazy after a few days.

It sucks because I actually loved being a chemical operator at SABIC. Outside of management honestly not understanding the schedule of a, “3-2-2 shift worker,” and a few negative coworkers (typical at most jobs), I was in a good place financially and mentally. Knowing that I gave my all, helped everyone with our stressful training plan that started after me, and just knowing that all of my colleagues said that I was good guy (before all of this happened) is both cool and calming.

Biggest thing is thinking back on all the errors that should have gotten people fired and they’re still there, but I’m let go. I understand it, but it sucks because it was actually more than just a job to me.

I don’t think I’ll get that level of satisfaction in what I do/did there anywhere else locally and the housing market sucks right now. So thinking about moving to Louisiana or Texas for a chemical operator job is a serious risk.

I’m not even mad, but d* I wanted to retire with that company.

-and I don’t even curse. That’s how bad I hate I’m gone.

sorry to hear, I'm sure you'll have a better job opportunity lined up in the future, if you feel as if you were wrongfully terminated you should definitely pursue your form of justice.

Sorry to hear that pa. I know how hard both are, the losing the job and the loneliness. It does get better and you have to remain positive. Pick up a new hobby, hit the gym, hang with your boys or even hit one of us up if you need some positivity.

Gotta look at it as it happened for a reason and something better is right around the corner for you. You got this pa and you’ll bounce back from this!
 
You’ll be alright man, it sucks now but I’ve had like 45+ jobs my resume is like a shotgun on a wall and it always works out.

If you like that industry you could look into pipe fitters and steam fitters unions and see if they’re taking apprentices.

You’d be a shoe in, you already know all the safety stuff and can get badged.
 
Well fells finally got me a gig after a 90 day furlough 😅 at least that’s what i say haha

Start date 1/5. So glad to be back joining the workforce but 2026 is gonna be grind mode cypher status. Need to replenish the savings i went through 😓 good thing is I’ve learned to budget way better and de-prioritize frivolous stuff spending

To all you still looking stay strong. The right role will find you in 2026 🫡

I am going to start actively looking for a new job. I'm ready to move on at my current role.

Realistically speaking, how long/how much bs did you have to go through to land your next position?

I'm considering getting into Medicare sales or becoming a Loan Officer.

In a perfect world I'll land this position around July or August.
 
I have worked a total of 9 months which is now the longest time I ever been at a job. I’m feeling a tad bit frustrated at this position. I received a call from a company today who is interested in hiring me for a manager role.. I’m thinking wellness and money this might work

I don't necessarily agree, but I've been told money solves all problems.

A management position overall though is a good step in the right direction.
