I don't lace my 12s up that high I think, so I avoid that issue.

I think these are selling with the holidays, etc. not sure we’ll see very big discounts now, except on odd sizes. The ship might have sailed on getting these for $150ish in decent sizes.

Nope but with all the complaining and the fact these are sitting I thought retailers would put these on discount to move pairs. I guess I was wrong.

Day before Thanksgiving. Showed up at Sports Authority maybe an hour before it opened. Me and one other dude were only ones. When they opened the doors, they had just stacked the boxes of every pair the store had in the middle of the shoes section. We could just stand there going through pairs to make sure we had no defects.
Grabbed the giant six-foot NO BULL poster from the poster rack by the register. Wish I still had the poster as much as I wish I still had my OG Taxis.

I remember literally putting that Foot Locker ad in moms face the day it came in the mail. Telling her this is the ONLY thing I wanted for Christmas. It didnt happen.

For some reason going through pairs didn't seem like a thing when the shoes originally released. Even with reissues (mid 90's) and early retros. No one talked about looking through shoes to find the best pair.

Oh I was doing it going back to like 8th grade in 1990, or definitely by the next year. Had too many experiences of mostly bad outsole glue jobs from almost the moment I really got into hooping and shoes. That was the main defect back then in my experience. OG Flight Huaraches, OG Barkley Force 180s, and others. My Barkley’s lasted exactly one basketball practice and not even the entire practice before I looked down and saw the heel completely peeled off one of my shoes.
When the OG carbon Zoom Flight 95s came out, I sat in an independent shoe store in my college mall with the entire stock of size 11s brought out to me because the first two pairs the guy brought out had the thin rubber cutouts running on the bottom already peeling off the shank plate. I had to go through every pair they had, probably eight or nine or 10 pairs, to mix and match a left and right shoe that didn’t have the issue. And the best part about it back then is the store employees were always cool with it. I’ve told that story on here before, but it was funny the way some people were looking at me when they came in the store and saw me sitting on a bench like Mars Blackmon with what looked like 1 billion pairs of Zoom Flight 95 in front of me

at 30%+ disco, these aren’t that bad.
They are straight up highway robbery at $215 retail tho.

I have the Playoffs 22 and Cherry 23, and yesterday i tried once again the playoffs, and what a great quality it is impressiv. The sizing and the containment are so great and now i can appreciate a bit more the cushion.
For me they are better than the cherry and it really makes me feel happy because in 2022 i was not sure to grab this colorway. I love the game 1 against Miami, and his last shot in the Game 1 vs utah.
I don't think the playoffs colorway have a lot of sucess.
Same thing for the Cherry, now i discovered the qualtiy of the Taxi, i really don't regret to grab them.
The thing with the taxi is, i love the leather even if it is weird, i love the fact they are slightly lighter, and maybe the midsole on the heel is just a little bit softer than the playoffs and the cherry and i love it when a midsole is soft.
But for example, about the quality, if i want to put them on, i have to unlace the last eyeloop because of the shape, and the big arch of my foot, but the lace stay blocked into the "metal" eyelet, there is not enough space for the lace to move or to slide, so you have to push really hard the plastic part of the lace and i didn't get this issue before.
(the Dark Shadow it is the opposite issue, the lace are too much easier to pass into the loop compare to the NYC).
But to come back to the cherry, i had the pinkye toe issue the first hours almost on the right foot but not with the Taxi while the Taxi are snug, i have the feeling i won't have this issue and i really don't know why.
I will try them more to confirm it.
While the sizing is also perfect, my right foot make a squeak sound in the middle of the shoes when i walk because of the new shape, and my big arch. It is ok with the left shoe.
So yes the quality is really really bad on the Taxi. But the fact that they are sleek, and just slightly lighter, make me want to play ball with them.
