basically, if you are interested in these you should be looking at multiple approaches to secure them....of course this is all dependent on your specific market dynamics. I know my game plan includes apps (footstores), raffles (boutiques et al), and FCFS (mom & pop type shops) given the NYC-area. the apps may not pan out (folks do get curved on it) and FCFS might not be fruitful but as long as I secure my pair(s) then the overall plan was fruitful.

its def random when you receive them, but your purchase history and interests youve selected def play a part in the types of reserves you get. ive copped a number or racers, mercurials which have landed me running shoe reservations. wasnt until i got my first few j's through the app that i started getting reservations

ive never had a pair of 1s reserved nor have i ever won a draw on ndc. hopefully that changes next week

I so hard want to believe that the alogorithm of 'randomness' is predicated on purchase history and interest play a role in it.....but so doubtful this is the case. I have bought nothing but 1s in the last 12-month cycle from Nike and have 'hearted' all of the ones in the Nike+/SNKRS+ apps for me only to get a slew of reserve that I have no intention on buying or looking. I am sure its this way with many of the folks in here ... but the only 1 reserve I have ever gotten was the CHI golf 1s that dropped.
but in anticipation of the royals possibly have 'reserve' pairs .... i purchased the two 1s I haven't thus far through Nike last week -- Serena Williams PE and v-day 1s.

So I'm not sure if this means much, but for what it's worth, when you compare the locator for the Motorsport 4's (which is confirmed to be a GR) to the Royal 1's, its identical.

FYI for all of my H-town ppls, the same Footaction release locator for the Royal 1s.............they are showing EVERY HOUSTON FOOT ACTION STORE IS CURRENTLY "APP RESERVATION ONLY" for these shoes.
Obviously, ppl down in H-Town knows how it goes with this changing to FCFS at the last minute, but right now..........all Houston FTAs are "App Reservation Only" for Royals.
Be advised AND stay posted if any of your local FTAs change to FCFS to the last minute during the week
