Josh Hamilton has relapsed!

Everybody makes mistakes....

I just hate the fact that his personal demons have to be blasted all over tv.

I know he is in the public eye. I get that. But man let him live. Let him deal with the issue.

i went to rehab, felt like an %!# for being there with hardcore drug users and i'm there for weed . i finished the program ( never got the job back ) and stood clean of anything for 4 years . i took one hit of a joint at a poker night and was amazed at the spiral it started .

i can only imagine how hard it is for josh with all the heavy stuff he's done , it's everyday every minute thinking about it , fighting it. the dude is a helluva talent , hope he comes through this right and manages to live a clean life .
I'm having serious trouble understanding this.

So you failed a drug test for marijuana and got sent to rehab (is that real life?).

After rehab you steered clear of weed for four years.

Then one night you hit a joint and it spiraled you back into what exactly? Recreational marijuana use?

I'm assuming you weren't addicted to any hard drugs or you wouldn't have felt out of place amongst hard core addicts at rehab. I've just never really heard anyone talk about relapsing when it comes to weed like that (4 years sober to complete downward spiral).

If this is too personal I apologize.

wasn't just weed, other stuff , not gonna get into it here . but what i meant was weed was a trigger like alcohol is to some people .

its def a trigger. My best friend had a full ride to nova his senior year for football. He was a lineman. Smoked weed recreationally all the time, as I do. Led him into harder drugs and now he shoots dope.. its the hardest thing to see someone you care about go through this. Let alone see them use. his whole life is screwed up and he has to get it back now. So I feel his pain and wish the best for him.

he had a couple drinks, big deal. "relapse" is such an overused term.

From what Sportscenter said he had a couple of beers at dinner then a couple of beers at a bar afterwards. No drama...no fights....just some drinks. I know how serious it is for a recovering alcoholic to drink anything...but come on now. NOBODY was hurt. I think they over blew this.

It can lead to him going back to the hard stuff.

A former coworker of mine used to do some heavy drugs and she said even 1 beer can hit the reset button and she can relapse.
Alcohol kills more people in the US than every drug other than tobacco (hm, both legal?)

The highest percentage of drug users are in rehab for weed over any other substance because the court or like dude said, a job, either tells you, "You can go to rehab or jail" in a lot of states. Easy choice, right? We're lucky we're in CA and don't really have to deal with that.

The thing about addiction is that everyone is different, one hit could have triggered something in his brain. You could probably say that I was addicted to weed (not physically, where I'm having withdrawals), but an addict can become addicted to almost anything.

Exactly I mean hes supposed to be completely sober I understand that so I can see why everyones making a deal out of it but supposedly nothing bad happened. Unless they are keeping out details then I think dude just made a little mistake and everything will be good today.

I feel for Hamilton, but why was this made into a spectacle and a sideshow?

why was there a press conference for him to say sorry? That's not needed. Why was this reported and blown into a MAJOR story. They couldn't have kept the details and personal stuff in house?

Let Hamilton and his family and the Rangers deal with it?

I think this is something that isn't exactly news worthy, and shouldn't be broadcasted on such a grand scale.

It's news worthy on a slow news night

It's tough...my biggest concern for him is how he will get through it once his baseball career is over. As for the press conference, who knows...maybe Josh Hamilton requested it himself. Getting up there and speaking his mind to the public might be his method of accountability and dealing with it.

I have a pretty reliable source that told me he was smashing a chick in the bathroom and customers were complaining. After the bar sent security in to break it up his drunk %*% tried to run out the back door.

Ranger fans have been threating to burn the place down because they served him. I guess dude was at the Sherlock's off 75 by Northpark.

Person that told me has no reason to lie or fabricate stuff.
