 C'mon

and....which PG do you expect to check Magic Johnson?
and you REALLY expect Tyson Chandler and Dwight to check David Robinson and the Dream in their primes?  How old are yall?
How old are you?

And we can remove Larry Bird from the equation, because he wouldn't have done #*@$ on the court.

Why do you have to have a PG? Why can't LeBron be the PG and they run with a big line up?

1 - Bron
2- Kobe
3- Durant
4- Blake
5- Chandler
You dont HAVE to, but I'm just rolling with the way the lineups would most likely be put on the floor IMO.  Do you expect Lebron to be the PG in the Olympics
but lets play Devils Advocate

Bron vs Magic

Kobe vs Jordan = they cancel each other (really dont wanna get into that conversation)

Durant vs Pippen = Pippen shuts Durant down

Blake vs Karl Malone = No competition, Karl Malone is far too versatile and would torch Blake, as would Barkley

Chandler vs Ewing = Ewing would destroy him.

My bad I put Hakeem before because Im over here reading this article lol my bad guys

So the only match up I'm not too sure about is Bron vs Magic.  I think Bron would get the best of him, but like I said, I honestly expect Team USA to start a PG.  If they didnt play a PG, that would take away 3 of the most dynamic players on team USA (Paul, DWill and Russy)

We aren't talking about the Olympics. We are talking about a hypothetical game between '92 and '12. If I was a coach and the opposing PG was Magic, Bron would be my starter.

nah. this is a 29 year old jordan vs a 34 year old kobe.

they aren't cancelling each other out
Like the PG position is even, because CP3 & Dwill have the same potential as Magic & Stock.

I keep seeing a lot of posters saying that the 08 & 12 teams we're far superior athletes than the 92 team and that's just not true.

Game would be close but some o yall are selling the Dream Team's ability to get up & down the court well short.

hey i'm not one of these dudes saying the PG position is even up for debate.

but at positions 2,4, and 5, its all about 1992

1992 Larry Bird who missed half the the NBA regular season, fresh off of missing almost the same amount of games the previous year, missed the conference Semi's in the playoffs and barely played in the Olympics because of his back....and retired right after the Olympics? That Larry Bird?

He would get WASHED.

Oh I know, I just reeeeeaaaaaallly didnt want this to turn into "ONE OF THOSE" conversations lol

The 92 dream team looks and sounds great because they were playing against an international circuit that was behind them by years. The current bball circuit is massively different solely because of the heavy influx of a,erican players teaching and playing in the international circuit thus giving them access to American ball and American talent to practice against.

Looks at avy, no response needed.

If this is to be played exactly how the players were (injuries/age) during their time with their own version of the "Dream Team" then it would really really be a close one. Like what was posted before, 29 year old Mike might not be cancelled out by a 34 year old Kobe.
I'll just put it this way, if the game is decided by 7 points or less, I'd go with '92. If the difference is more than that, I'd run with '12.

c'mon yall, the dream team fontcourt would absolutely destroy the 12 frontcourt. We're talking about 4 HOFrs in their prime against Chander, a defensive specialist, Griffin, 2nd year player still figuring out how to play, and Love.

That alone should give the edge to the dream team.

Not necessarily. If this "game" is to be played under FIBA rules... then playing zone might equalize the playing field in terms of having a dominant "inside" presence.

It would be a hell of a game/series. I would say "Dream Team" would win 4-2, in playoff series format.

I don't know if the '12 team can. But if Kobe would have said the '08 team, then he would have a better argument.

Malone, Barkley, Ewing, & Drob would NOT destroy Chandler, Dwight, & Griffin? Our they would , but Bron, Harden, Kobe, Melo, Russy, CP3, Deron, & Durant would counter that by destroying Magic, Bird, Pippen, MJ, Mullin, & Stockton, & Drexler?

In a straight up one game battle the Dream Team gets it. Would it be a blow out like the Dream Team did to the other teams, not at all. It would be very close, but to say there's no athleticism on the Dream Team except Jordan is foolish. Malone uses up every other forward on the new team except Bron but Bron would never face Malone so it's irrelevant. The center position is laughable when it comes to Dream Team versus now. Tyson Chandler would get flat out embarrassed. MJ takes Kobe in this hypothetical situation and the point guard and two guard spots are good competition and could maybe push the edge toward the new team but doubt it. (Magic might have been diagnosed with HIV but it's not like he'd been out of the league for five years or something) Overall the original Dream Team was just more solid all the way around. All those players had true positions and were the best at them in their time, period. This new Olympic team has a bunch of Jordan clones and only a few true position players.

But at the same time Kobe has to say that because a true superstar can never admit defeat. That's a loaded question no matter how he answered it.

Pretty much mailman in 92 was average 28 and 10 and chuck next year won the MVP. People forget how much a freak karl was 245 jacked and moved like a Lhw fighter. Those two were pretty much the mvps of that 92 squad. The 12 team has Russell westbrook, end of debate right there. Dream team wins 4-1 in a seven game series. Better rebounders, better defensive players, more physical, better decision makers, better shot selection. You wont see them chuck jumpers all day.
