From TMZ:

Kobe Bryant should have known his soon-to-be ex-wife would take him to the cleaners in their divorce ... because she learned the wallet-raiding playbook from her mother ... so says Vanessa's ex-step dad.

TMZ spoke with Stephen Laine -- an inventory manager for a food company who was married to Vanessa's mother from 1990 to 2003 ... and helped raise Vanessa from a child into adulthood.

Laine tells us, "Her mother taught her well to wait for the ten-year mark [before divorcing]."

He explains, "In California ... it's considered a long term marriage and then she gets paid for life or until she remarries ... just like her mother is doing to me."

Laine continues, "I have to pay her mom $1,800 every month and clearly they don’t need it."

Sources close to Vanessa tell us ... Kobe's soon-to-be ex-mother-in-law is currently living in one of the BBaller's mansions ... and we're told Vanessa is very good to her.

Laine gripes, "I have a six-year-old daughter and that money could be used toward her college fund or something ... you'd think she'd care .. but no, she's spiteful."

LOL! This is going to get uuuuuuggggggglllllyyyy! I am LOVING IT!!! There was a time here when all of the Kobe fans here were speaking on how hawt his wife was. Well, I have a funny feeling that she is about to become a troll, something disgusting, a chick you can grab off the corner to these guys, those who sit here wacking off to Laker jerseys and Kobe Bryant fade aways....

This is going to be a joy to watch! Payback is a mutha!

But Lebron wouldn't be in this situation because he isn't an idiot. This is probably the exact reason why he will NEVER marry the mother of his kids

the only idiot is the one who really thinks it matters...first off after a certain amount of time being married or not is the same thing and regardless she is the mother of his children which is much more solid than being married...if she ever decides to leave no court in the united states is gonna have mercy on him...she will get whatever - its the american way

Wrong.

A common law marriage is legally binding in some common law jurisdictions but has no legal consequence in others.

Actually, I have paintings by James Weeks and photo's by Gordon Parks on my wall, son.
Laws differ from state to state, son. If she is an able bodied individual, depending on the state, she will have to get a job, while LeBron will pay child support commensurate to his lifestyle. Since he and the lady were NOT married, he will not have to pay alimony in any state other than in California, where there is something called palimony, son.

The only thing filled with ******ation, is your view of how the legal system works in this country, son

Kobe is screwed due to being married in Cali, which has the most unbalanced legal system in the country, in regard to divorce.

Deal with it, your boy is toast.

Reread the bold and underlined text, then notice the contradiction.
It seems as if you may have an issue there, young fella'.

Now move on to read the italic, then underlined text again.

Note, having babies, which means CHILD SUPPORT, not SPOUSAL SUPPORT.

Then lastly, I do feel that LeBron is a bit smarter than Kobe in this regard, but that does not make a fanboy

It makes me an admirer of people who are a bit sharper than people like, well, never mind....

your trying to wayyy too hard now...i just can't-  i'll say this to end it all and you guys can get back to whatever it is you do

- the underlined part was a mockery of typical fanboys - i actually dont even care for the nba...i like the celtics cause they are my home team and when it gets down to playoffs time i may pay attention...i get some tickets thrown at me and go to a few games here and there...i dont hate kobe or lebron or anybody...actually i have few problems with paul pierce but thats personal REAL life stuff

- your never going to let this go and are basically deforming the argument to whatever suits you...i didnt really differentiate between child support or spousal support so your just nitpicking now....she will get paid and the original poster i quoted is an idiot...those are the two points i made...

seriously you wanna argue spousal vs child support? like when this broad gets some obscene amount amount a month for "child" support it matters....because the money wont go to make sure that mommy has a nice mansion, the latest benz and a closet full of  louboutins? no it strictly gets used to make sure the kid has the best cereal and diapers...again i'm talking real life while you want to argue points from a law book

funny the person i quoted originally didnt say anything but you decided to be the knight in shining armor ...carry on

Trying too hard? Young man, legal precedent has already been set, so there is no need to try! Child support should go to the child, not the custodial parent. 18 years. If you made the kid, you are responsible for the rearing of the child, and the Mother of that child has to work as well, contributing to the well being of that child. Are some of the amounts awarded fair? Nope! The system is a bit off from state to state. But I'd rather a kid have access to the things needed, than the kid not having access, due to a parent not taking care of business, regardless of the amount.
Kingtre wrote:

Now from state to state, some measures of spousal support can mean a lifetime deal unless a settlement is made, or Prenup was established.

Law is law, and misinfo is misinfo. I'm just clearing that LeBron is in the better position right now, and Kobe Bryant is going to have to sell a lot of his ugly !+% shoes!

Ha ha ha @ ben. He was in kobes house when kobe got the news. Not only was he with him kanye and jay z were on a samsung galaxy 3 way discussing about birdmans maybach.
