Miami got exactly what they wanted out of the trade. It was no secret that Shaq's health/conditioning was on the decline. He is over 300 pounds and takes abeating by multiple people nightly. The body breaks down, faster for a big man. The Heat will be back in the lottery with a well-rested Wade and a fewbenchwarmers with some playing time under their belts.
LA has some problems of their own. Kobe has six or seven good years left at the level he's at. To get out of the west he has to make it past Dallas, SanAntonio, Houston, Golden State, New Orleans. Oh yeah, Portland who is playing great w/o their #1 draft pick Oden. If they even make it out of the West wouldthey be able to beat the best of the east? Boston, Orlando, Detroit, or even Toronto. It's great that they have improved, but it may be at the wrong time.
The Heat shot for a small window to win a championship and the gamble paid off.
Let's not think about injuries.
