Lamar has said he wants to end his career as a Laker and I believe he may have also said he'd take a pay cut to come back. Plus, Buss said he'll emptyhis pockets to keep this team together.

Wings who play defense and can shoot the ball? Someone who's young and pretty much won the game for the Lakers in the Finals alongside Derek Fisher? Yeah Maggette is a much better offensive player, and a hell of an athlete, but dude is no where near Ariza on defense, and Ariza is a guy who can knock em down, and make key plays on both ends.

NBA GM's have short-term memory, and they see some player who could be a mid-level talent (not calling Ariza mid-level), and they cream their pants at their eyed-prospect and overspend.

I'm just saying, it's a reality that the Lakers may have to deal with.

As for Odom, I have no clue what kind of money he'll be fielding, realistically, when was the last time you saw a superstar take less money for the betterment of their team? The only guy I can think of is Timmy Duncan, and he's one of the most humble dudes in the L.

It's kinda funny how all-year long the Lakers were bashing on Odom and Fisher, and now they're becoming heroes.

That's the thing though. You produce during your contract year and everyone tries to get you. It's like a bidding game. Just look at howsome people on eBay overpay for something.

I say it is more important to keep Odom.... Ariza was big in the playoffs and will be a really good player but Odom gives us more flexability on the court.Odom can play 3 or 4.. Where as Ariza plays 2 or 3... With Odom on the court we can give minutes for Pau to play the 5. And Bynum to rest his knee.. Odom alsohas a more all around game....


I say we keep them both though. But I don't know if they will be able to.. If we opt Ariza over Odom we will not repeat at all because Bynum will not stepup and we will be left with holes every single game.. I think Kobe needs to knock off 5 mil+ off his contract (won't happen) and Odom seems like he willtake that drop of 3-4 mil..

The biggest burden to our pocket right now is Bynum he went from 2mil to 12mil. Very undeserving if you ask me..But that's sports, he was supposed to bethe next "Shaq"

In a perfect world Kobe drops from 23 mil to 15 mil... We sign Odom for 4 yrs/$32 mil and Ariza for 3yrs/15-17mil.. Ariza starts @ the 3 plays 30minutes...Odom plays 18 at the 3 and 10 or so mins at the 4..


edit: Boston had an 80 mil salary... So we have 6-7 mil to offer up to Ariza that fills that... Then if Kobe takes the pay cut I mentioned that money goes tosigning Odom and renewing Shannon Brown and Powell... Sun Yue and D.J. will go and we draft a Center in the draft...
