Is Kareem doing better? Maybe he can help Okafor like he did with Bynum.

Okafor will be fine. He's one of the best low post scorers to come out of the draft since 2000.
Has a high basketball IQ, has many moves and counter moves in the post, can pass out of the post, knows how to make decisive moves and turn away from and pass out of double teams.
Has already dropped weight to be able to play quicker on defense.
Defense is just as much about effort as it is skill, if not more about effort. His biggest problem on defense was lack of effort. He was lazy and gave lackadaisical effort. Just get his effort up and he'll be passable at defense because he is not undersized at all.
Two legit concerns is he's not a midrange shooter, his defense.
Effort solves a lot about his defense. He'll never be Marc Gasol, but just needs to be fine on defense and in combination of his offense he'll be a solid player.
His midrange, has to be practiced. Just need to work.
Remember 1st year player is normally not a finished product.
And if you bring up that the NBA has moved away from big low post centers, the explanation is easy. There's not enough good low post centers for every team to play that way. Maybe having one gives us an advantage.

I swear you're the only person in this entire thread that ever makes any type of sense.
I wanna slap someone seeing the **** yall post sometimes
I don't think it's just that there haven't been that great low post centers which has caused the low post game to diminish. The rule changes play a huge role in that. Just look at the offenses that have low post scorers and you'll see that their offenses aren't that efficient. On top of that the best low post players in the league today aren't posting up amazing efficiency in the low post.
I still think it's an important/useful aspect to have in your offense. But it can't be those straight dump it down low post ups which I'm sure Byron will have Okafor do. They should be on the move, off picks, etc. Gsw post up Dray off a multitude of actions that I don't think Scott is capable of understanding.
I want Okafor. I just don't want him to simply be a dump the ball into him type guy.

Do you really love Randle E? I don't remember who your favorite picks were last year.
Still ingrained in my mind Mychal Thompson clamoring for the Lakers to pick McDermott with #7 last year.

Afflalo is opting out. So he's another option in free agency, I suppose.
