Correct me if I'm wrong, but how does someone get away with practicing a religion like that today?
Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?
There are no race or color restrictions as to who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are also no race or color restrictions as to who can have the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

An official declaration of the Church states, “every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood, with power to exercise its divine authority, and enjoy with his loved ones every blessing that flows therefrom, including the blessings of the temple. Accordingly, all worthy male members of the Church may be ordained to the priesthood without regard for race or color.

Yeah I don't understand this religion. Thanks for the thread though, I wanna know what they believe in, and don't believe in.

Well, blacks couldn't completely be members until like 1977 so.......I tell Mormons (in live in Utah) that they can keep their religion

I just want to check in to this

Edit:

What I find is hilarious, is that racist Christians will swear that Obama is a muslim; therefor they will vote for the Mormon.

You are entirely taking those verses outta context.

"Although the curse of the Lamanites is often associated directly with their skin color, it may be that this was intended in a far more symbolic sense than modern American members traditionally assumed.

The curse itself came upon them as a result of their rejection of the Gospel. It was possible to be subject to the curse, and to be given a mark, without it being associated with a change in skin color, as demonstrated in the case of the Amlicites. The curse is apparently a separation from the Lord. A close reading of the Book of Mormon text makes it untenable to consider that literal skin color was ever the "curse." At most, the skin color was seen as a mark, and it may well have been that these labels were far more symbolic and cultural than they were literal."

^^^well, I guess Mormons took it out of context as well because they acted on it.

I played pick up at a Mormon church every wednesday night from 9-12ish. My experience was completely different from yours. The mormons there were pretty good a few actually played at BYU and one of em made it to Europe. Anyways, their style of play was honestly the most physical, borderline dirty I had ever played in my life

like the only way you were going to call a foul was if you got pushed thru the sliding door and into the congregation of the church

playing there really toughened me up

Only dudes that would that would cause trouble were the random non mormon dudes that would hear about it and show up and couldn't handle the aggressive play.
Actually the on dumb rule they had was no 3s
laugh.gif
but that rule was only in effect when there was an elder playing with us. And I do like the mormons, they're nice folks and growing up in a mid-upperclass predominantly white area a lot of my childhood friends are mormon; the religion is kinda wonky to me, but I'm not gonna judge. And having hung around those guys for so long I really don't think they believe in the stereotypes all you guys are blindly sillyputtying around.

Umm, I am not so sure that they treat me any differently, they are just hella ignorant and VERY judgmental out here. PERIOD. Their religion teaches them that basically only temple worthy Mormons can go to the highest kingdom (heaven) and everyone else in the world are basically just screwed
laugh.gif
. Knowing that, i can't help but think that they ultimately think they are better than me. On average, they just don't know anything else besides white people and Mormonism. Even the out of state Mormons come here and are like
eek.gif

As far the whole dark skin thing, I have had this convo a million times and they basically have no answers. It is just some messed up crap that happened in their history and continued to happen (IMO) for too long.

Now they are trying recruit color by converting and bringing over all these Polynesians and adopting blacks
laugh.gif
. They are starting to cut back on the Polys because that conversion doesn't last longer than a year and they (the Polynesians) are responsible for most gangs in the valley area. They have been causing HAVOC son
laugh.gif

And I can't wait until these adopted african/african american kids are grown folks. I have nothing against them adopting I am just interested to see how they turn out 20 years from now.

Can't wait to see this when it comes to LA:

The southpark episode about Joesph Smith is a classic.

I don't have anything against Mormons as people. Every one i've ever known has been a fantastic human being. However, I think their belief structure and religion is total garbage.

It is culture bro. Polynesians are heavy on family and so are mormons. That is where they make their sale, because it make sense.
My brotha in law is straight samoan. I mean, straight rugby, Invictus, whole pig roasting on a tuesday morning playa. And through the lds, Mormonism is how he came to Americas. Trust me, I KNOW THIS
