Can an LDS explain to me how in the Bible it says that it is the one true word yet mormons have different bibles? Isn't that very contradictory?

There are a few criticisms that are voiced by critics of LDS Church and its doctrine in continued revelation and scripture.
If you're referring to scripture found in the Book of Revelation when it discusses adding to "this book", most Biblical scholars will testify that it is referring to that revelation, that particular book. The Bible itself is simply a compliation of other books and revelations written by Prophets and Apostles. It was compiled and translated hundreds of years after they had originally been written. Scriptures found in the Old Testament echo similar sentiments about not adding to the "book".

Essentially, the church teaches that God continues to speak to Prophets and to us in our day, just as he did in the past.

If that didn't answer your question, let me know. I can clarify more if needed. I just gotta get back to work!

Yep. People wanna quote text, why can't I use the exact same text for my argument?

It's all in how you address people. Dude took his time to state his stance on his religion very respectfully. A rare occurrence on NT. He didn't bible bash or any of that crap. You could have at least been as respectful as he was in your own response. I could see if he was being a **** or something, but....

Not that anyone is neseccarily angry but have they actually changed the scriptures?

Having grown up in a community with a large LDS population, their views that dark skin is a mark of evil are in effect to the same extent as is polygamy. Most Mormons do not ascribe to either but it is not completely gone from the entire LDS community either.

I really do wonder why there is so much tension between evangelical curches and the LDS church. They have much more in common with either other than they do with any other social group. The Evangelics and Mormons are anti-gay, they want women to have their arms and legs covered, they want people to breed as much as they can, they are distrustful of the Federal government and they like the idea of living in a patriachal society

The economies in the States where either or both groups have a great deal of political power, are characterized by lower levels of government spending on higher education, less educated work forces, low unemployment, low wages, low costs of living, great deal of medium sized firms, low taxes and regulations but also a great deal of spending on subsidizes for firms.

The Evangelical-LDS vision for America is most visible in places like Texas and Alabama and Wyoming. They view hard work for low pay as virtuous. They believe that 19 and 20 year olds marrying and having five children in a two bedroom home to be the proper role for young adults. The elite of these places love it that way because the majority of the population produces, they are paid very little, they are hostile to the concept of asking why they are paid so little, they work so much at their jobs and/or with raising their multitude of babies that they receive very little information and with so little education they cannot do much with information and finally, they are told by their boss and by their preachers how to vote, how to think and how to live your life. Meanwhile, the creme of these Red State communities send their kids to Harvard B-school and they have Swiss Bank accounts and the commoners back in Utah and Mississippi love them because raising "five boys" on a paltry 25 million dollar per year income is really hard work apparently.

OK, I agree with that. It doesn't change the fact that I believe that Mormonism is a huge cult and I think it's funny. But I'll bow out of this conversation while this guy tries to explain himself.

Thanks for the answer. I see what you mean. What about how Joseph Smith interpreted the Book of Abraham out of Egyptian funeral scrolls? I mean... pretty sure they found funeral instructions in there, not scripture.

Liked her a lot, but ended things due to her wanting to get married and start a family. We were 16.

Sorry my man. I've been busy with work and by the time I get home, I've forgotten about replying.
I'll try to remember when I get home and provide you an answer.

Invalid, those guys probably just went online to find some random anti stuff.
As for that scripture in revelations, it says thisbook, talking about itself, the bible is a collection of books, not chronological put in order.

So disrespectful too.

Relax bros this is a discussion, I just proposed a question because people were making some very harsh remarks about mormons. Wanted to know why they felt such anger against the newer members of the church who expressed that they don't necessarily feel the same way.

people like to bash any sort of organized religion thats why.  its the movement towards atheism pushed by the nwo.

No the reason most people dont like organized religion is because its a bunch of hypocrites and phonies.  It inherently teaches people that anyone who doesnt abide by your gods rules is doomed to eternal damnation. In a global community that is only getting smaller it will lead to more and more conflict. I hate looking at smug ultra-conservative religious people who smirk thinking theyre somehow better than you. You should be judged on your virtues, not your affiliation.
Live and let live.

im not mormon at all...but dudes in the video seemed like pseudo intellectual overly aggressive soapboxers themselves...  plus they never entertained the idea of folks turning white or pale due to the fact they were clearly cursed and "sick"? I don't at all agree with any of the pre-70's mormon rhetoric though... i just wished someone would break things down politely an effectively instead of talkin over each other an making the argument so emotionally charged

Psuedo this, intellectual soap box that.. dudes used scripture to squash those bugs, that's all that counts. When the so called black man knows nothing, its all good and everyone is happy, but when the so called black man comes correct with some knowledge and understanding, he's labeled a psuedo intellectual and overly aggressive
laugh.gif
.. Can't ever win. It is what it is. Take that LDS stuff to the dumpster though, how could the original man be cursed because of his skin?
