This year? Not really. Any time you hold down a sub 1 whip...thats historic only Guys like Pedro, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, have done that.

I think Tim will do it one day, having TWO major league out pitches. I think his change up is as good as Santanna's and his cruve is as good as anybody notnamed Roy Halladay.

. Im not going to start a debate as to who's stats are better, but to say its not close is absolutely absurd.

ERA - 2.14 & 2.30
WHIP - .84 & 1.07
BAA - .194 & .214
Ks - 141 & 183
record - 10-5 & 11-3
CGs - 3 & 4

So please.....tell me how its not close.

It's not close?

Come on...

Nevermind the stats... Take into account that Lincecum will be pitching meaningful games in a playoff chase and Haren will fade into obscurity over the finaltwo months with his team 20 games out...

Sure "it's close" but it's not close in the way you can either one way or another Dan Haren is having the best season of any NL pitcher, while pitching in a hitters park behind one of the worst defenses in baseball.

If the award were given out today, it would have to go to Haren. I'm just not convinced Haren can do it for an entire year.

If the season were to end today, I'd say Haren wins the Cy Young Award... but the fact of the matter is, the season's not over. Anything can happenfrom now till the end of the season.

exactly. giant fan conveniently ignores that Lincecum benefits from playing in a pitchers park
I'm not taking anything away from Haren because I think if the season ended today he deserves to win the Cy Young, but Lincecum's home andaway ERAs are nearly identical. So it's not like he isn't as dominant outside of AT&T.

The best pitcher is the best pitcher regardless of playing in meaningful games in September, IMO. The best pitcher wins the Cy Young Award. This isn't theMVP Award.

I agree. Giants fans were saying this last year as to why Lincecum deserved the award. Now that the Giants are decent, we can't say Harendoesn't deserve it because his team isn't in contention.

Haren can make a strong case this season, but record shows that he usually wears out as the second half progresses.

I think people are sleeping on Cain. He doesn't have the K and WHIP numbers that these two have, but he's gotten the job done this year.

You have Haren on your fantasy team. You said it yourself, Haren's numbers get worse as the season progresses. I'm looking to make a tradefor my boy, Haren.

I'm just saying.

^ I'm trying to unload Haren in one of my leagues too. Sell high while he is still pitching well. Lincecum for Haren was rejected.
