^ One of my flaws in fantasy baseball is holding on to my "boys." For example, Rich Harden. I know he's an injury waiting to happen, but I stillpick him in every league I play and I never trade him.

Lincecum for Harden sounded right, but dude probably knows about Haren's track record... or is a Lincecum fan.

You kept 4 of the 5 A's pitching staff on one team, if I recall. I can't remember what year it was though.

Im in agreement here that if the season ended today, it would be Haren. But since the season isnt over, I would be willing to bet Lincecum and Cain will bothbe more deserving than Haren. And if Haren fades like he always does, pitchers like Broxton, Johan and even Wandy may pass him as well.

* on a sidenote, I saw Harris Barton at the game

He was w/ his 2 kids in line next to me. I didn't realize it was him until we were both at the register and I heard someone ask him "are you harris?Harris Barton?"
And he responded "yeh , that's me."
I turned around and asked him how many superbowl rings he had and he responded kurtly as hell

Lincecum has been phenomal, but many folks fail to realize how impressive a 0.84 WHIP is.

Sure, WHIP is just one stat, but it measures base runners allowed, a true measure of pitching success. More meaningful than K's and a stat that pitchershave much more control over compared to ERA and Wins.

If that "many folks fail to realize..." comment was directed at me, you couldnt be more wrong. I completely understand how good a .84 whip is. Itsphenomenal. I originally was just responding to the idiotic comment that it wasnt close.

For the record, if the season ended today, I am on the Haren train. He is your Cy Young. But I ask you this. What does WHIP reaaalllly matter when the ERAsare essentially the same? I understand how dominant Haren has been. He doesnt let many on base. But hypothetically, if the WHIPs stay the same as they aretoday, and the two finish with the exact same ERA (lets say both are at 2.30), ultimately what difference does one pitcher having a lower WHIP mean? If theyallow the same amount of runners to score per 9 innings, does it really matter how many guys are let on base?

Im not discounting WHIP in any way shape or form. Im just posing a hypothetical question. Timmy walks people. Haren does not. That IS the difference in thetwo's respective WHIPs. The batting average against is fairly similar. Lets just see how the rest of the season shapes out.

I think a good point was made that if Haren can hold down that WHIP I would have to give it to him but odds are unlikely. Edit: I didn't even read thewhole post to realize what was above me but yea I'll add on and predict that Timmy will deserve the CY Young at season's end. I heard about the 15kgame while listening to sports radio going to sleep I definitely stopped for a second and said wow.
