Mac External Hard drive Recommendations?

Can anyone please recommend me an external hard drive for my Mac? I'm upgrading to Snow Leopard and need one for Time Machine.

I'm currently thinking about purchasing this Western Digital (WDBAAU0015HBK-NESN).

It appears reliable, judging by what I've read from user's.

Also, what do you guys think about Seagate FreeAgent Go drives? I'm also considering purchasing this but for my own personal use, not as a backup. Reviews for these are mostly positive, though there are quite a few who claim that they stop functioning after a few months.

500GB, 1TB, or 2TB + built-in wireless N router.  Bonus:  If you have a Mac, automatically backs up everything via Time Machine.  I caught a 500GB at Best Buy for $149.  Cant go wrong.

Imo you should get the Western Digital, it's a real reliable brand.

Works on both Mac and PC, and you don't have to format it on the PC first in order for it to be used on both OS's.

I have a 2TB Time Capsule. I back everything up though after a terrible accident I had last fall where EVERYTHING was lost. Apple apologized and sent me Western Digital to make up for it.

My honest advice is to back your @*#% up. I thought having a mac because I didn't have viruses or spyware I was good but one day I went to wake my computer up from sleep and it was just a gray screen. Sounds dramatic but there was nothing dramatic about my hard drive disk crashing andme dropping $700 getting data recovery to get back all my @*#%.

Time Capsule or Western Digital dude. Take care and good luck

Although Apple has addressed the issue, there are still many who are experiencing problems.

Like others, I think it's a design flaw as the TC has no fans.

I wouldn't want to risk my data on such a (potentially) vulnerable product.

HD. So far extremely fast. It takes less than a minute to transfer 1gb through firewire 800. QUIET. Slick as hell. The same color/texture as my macbook pro. I don't use it for a long time though because over heating malfunctions the drive faster. Seagates get that problem from what I've read but don't take my word for it.

Got the 640gb Seagate for $80, its small and does not require an external power source or duel usb cable for power. Formatted it to 1/4 Mac extended format for time machine and the rest to fat for ps3/wii/pc. Had it for about a month so far (had previous seagate external for 2-3 years and still no problems) and no problems with heat or otherwise. 

The 5 year warranty on the Seagate vs the 3 on the WD is also a plus.
