My friends would laugh at me for watching, but the O.C. had some terrific writing, especially in season 1.

Girls obviously liked it for the drama and all that, but the show was funny, witty, and self-deprecating at times... they would poke fun at the stereotypical soap opera things.

I would say go for it, if you like the first season, which was the best, then keep on watching.
