Most overrated city ???

Bangkok : if i stay more than 2 days in that city i go crazy. The rest of the country is truly amazing though

Toronto : stayed downtown for a weekend during winter. Didn’t enjoy the city at all. I’m sure in the summer and if you go around downtown, it’s much better.

That’s just from my personal experience. I would put Vegas in there too as others have mentioned

I went to Toronto and explored around downtown more during the summer and it's definitely better than my first experience. Still Montreal >>>

I stand by what I said about Bangkok though. Too many tourist traps, people are very annoying with tourists, etc. The rest of the country >>>

If you do the trip advisor stuff you’re bound to have a good time in nyc. Hell you could just walk the streets shop to shop bar to bar restaurant to restaurant and it would take you months to hit them all up. But nyc is a different animal if you know somebody that will get you the good drugs and take you to the spots not really listed online like hidden restaurants and bars, Off Broadway plays, ***** houses/buildings with a mean lineup of exotic Latinas, raves and private dance clubs. There’s a whole underworld in the city it’s just not obvious

Bars and restaurants yeah, everything else you mentioned if I want to experience a city ill stick to the tourist stuff.

Im not gonna go to NYC for my first time and tell people I went to the seedy underworld and did mad drugs and then when they ask if Central Park was cool imma say nah I didnt go.

I went to venice, italia before da rona and it was not pleasant mainly due amount of tourists

NYC I bought the city pass so I was extra touristy, 2 times the same summer. First time even stayed in a sketchy Airbnb by a scam artist Cameroon lady. It's expensive, crowded, dirty, people aren't nice, and the bus/train thing was a turnoff, fun to do maybe for a few days but got old quick. Same time, you know all those things going in. Had fun though, wouldn't say I didn't. Even in places that aren't fun, you should be able to enjoy yourself.

Different strokes. I like eating a plate of thc infused food then strolling the city. Didn’t mind going the raves when I was in my 20’s either

Not so much different strokes as it isnt one or the other, you can do both. But just to have the convo, I rather experience a city like NY with the touristy stuff than do the seedy stuff, which can be done anywhere. What if when I went to London and I didnt see Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, London Eye, etc and all I did was pubs and nightlife in random places? Did I really go to London?

Matter fact during my trip to LA, my boy had me go to SF with him for a couple days to see the usual SF must see places. I knew he went last year or two before for work but he said he didnt get to see anything cause well, it was for work and the downtime he had he was with work buddies just going to eat and drink. So we went, checked out all the cool spots and now he feels like he got to see actual SF a bit.

In Cali, some people I chatted with said theyve visited NY recently and say they cant so the whole living thing here, too hectic for them. Its one of those things either that you dont mind, live for, or just grew up with. I grew up with it, I dont mind it but the slower pace of LA def is growing on me.

Only place I’ve been in my adult years that I didn’t enjoy was Cincinnati. Had to go for a wedding. Spent one night downtown. It was just dry...

Can’t even call it overrated. I think its rated just fine.

I enjoy being a tourist. I try not to stray too far off the beaten path on my first visit to a new city. Makes planning easier. Go off-script only if I get a local recommendation.

Yes. When I travel I really try not to do the normal tourist stuff. I’m there for a week or less I’m trying to enjoy myself not trying to go looking at architecture or a park LOL. we have different approaches to travel I try to relax, eat and party

First time I went to NYC i went to visit a friend who had recently moved out there. She had all these places she “had” to show me. First place she took me to was the flat iron building? I think that’s what it’s called....it’s just a building that looked like a triangl. I told her don’t take me anywhere else. All I wanted to do was go to whatever professional team was playing, visit the 9/11 museum, eat some good food, and enjoy the nightlife. The hell I look like trekking around town to stare at buildings. I’ve been to NYC like 6 times and still haven’t been to central park :lol I should probably check it out next time

Nightlife yeah is great, food is a given but what else you doing the rest of your day? Id be damned going to Paris and just eating all day and going out at night and when my friends ask was the Eiffel dope in person imma be like bro I aint even get a chance to go see it.

Anyone else live in a city that has a world known attraction but never gone? I’ve never been to Statue of Liberty and at this point I don’t think I will unless I have kids and they want to go.

I dunno if the CN Tower falls under that category, but ive never been. Drive past it all the time, never been once nor do i care to go.

Whats so special about the Eiffel tower?
if youre into architecture then it's pretty amazing, at least for me it was

you can buy tickets and go all the way to the top. there are three different locations you can stop at while making your way up to the top

there's a see-through glass floor on the first stage with restaurants, souvenir shops, history, etc... awesome place to just chill

Pretty sure the majority of nyers have never been down to staten island. Sure as hell never crossed my mind when I was there.

yeah i usually use the first day only to get all the sightseeing outta the way

I think it’s pretty normal for native residents of any city to not care about the landmarks. People come from all over the world to see the Golden Gate Bridge; for most of my life, I just thought of it as a traffic nightmare that connected SF to Marin County . The traffic there is ok now that they have the automated tolls, but I still have zero reason or interest to go there. I honestly get irritated any time people visiting me ask me to take them there :lol
