SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A woman faces charges of child abuse after she allegedly left her two young children in a car while she went for a job interview.
According to a Scottsdale police report, someone heard a child crying inside a Dodge Durango parked in an office complex parking lot near Via Linda and 91st Street around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the engine was turned off, the doors were closed and each of the four windows was opened only slightly.
Police say the vehicle was parked in direct sunlight and the children, 2 years old and 6 months old, were alone.
The bystander called police and officers and firefighters responded.
Police say 35-year-old Shanesha Taylor returned to the vehicle about 45 minutes after the passerby found the unattended boys.
Taylor told officers she had just finished a job interview and did not have anyone to take care of her children, according to the police report.
She was arrested and booked into jail for child abuse.
Police say Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
A local woman has started an online fundraising page to help Shanesha Taylor.
"There are a lot of us who feel she was just a victim to what an economy like this is putting struggling families through," said Amanda Bishop, who organized the fundraiser. The fundraising page can be found here.
