I could care less whether he won 11 titles or not.

The crap he went through off the court to get where he did, as well as completely revolutionizing the role of a center in the NBA is enough for me to justifythis move.

I can already imagine you having to deal with a Lakerbeing the NBA Logo, so I can't blame you for that.

Naw, but on the real, good choice. Definitely a well respected legend of the game and deserves to have that honor.

SMH at people even arguing against this.....

in Russell's final year in 1969, it was the first year they awarded the finals MVP. the celtics beat the lakers in the finals but Jerry West took home thefirst ever finals MVP.... he's the only player to win the MVP on a losing team.

So, what does this mean, sorry I didnt watch the press conference. Does this mean when the player wins finals MVP? Its gonna be the Bill Russell Award? Sortalike the Heisman label?
