Kobe with 29ppg 6apg

everyone else is just inconsistent.
That makes no sense.

kobe is averaging 6rpg, 5apg, and 26ppg while averaging 39% from the field, and 25% from 3 in the finals

Pau is averaging 20ppg, 10rpg, 3apg, and 3.7bpg while averaging 57% from the field in the finals.

who's inconsistent?
Thats a terrible comparison most of Pau's shots are coming from around the basket so of course hes gonna have a better feild goal percentage, any decent big man should.....and are u really expecting a SG to have more Rebounds or Blocks then there center?

I'm just showing the simple fact that as a SG Kobe is not getting it done at his position, as much as Pau is. And that Kobe is not consistant during this finals series so far.

I'm sorry but I certainly don't think Kobe deserves it.. lol, just bc he he scored a lot doesn't make an MVP.. I haven't felt his presence in the 4th much at all.. and his FG% has been abismal(sp?).. as of Game 4 right now.. either Pau, Rondo, and Kobe (just bc he's Kobe).. Allen killed his shot* with that Game 3 performance.. we'll see what games 5, 6, 7 hold.

Agreed. He has had one pretty good game and the rest have either been awful or subpar. He has not had the killer instinct or stepped up in the fourth quarter of any game yet. Game 1 we won because we kept going down low in the fourth quarter, and Game 3 Fisher took over.

Even when he got a break while he was defending Tony Allen tonight he wasn't assertive enough on the offensive end. He's a great player he needs to assert himself more. You can't wait until the other team has a 9 point lead with 4 minutes left to get into attack mode on offense; do it the whole fourth quarter. It would have been one thing if the ball was moving well tonight but we were just playing too much iso, Kobe didn't read the flow of the game well at all.

SamGoody you are being way too hard on Kobe. he hasn't played perfect every game, but he is the Lakers most valuable player. i don't see how you can argue that.

Big Baby for the Celtics..... seriously. been very solid off the bench for 3 games now.

Pau Gasol for Lakers because he hasn't cost the Lakers a game.

I agree with Glen davis for the celtics.

I think Pau and Kobe are even on the Lakers. So whoever is the main guy if we win the next 2 gets it.

each game a different player has a huge game...  game 1 was kobe and pau, game 2 was ray, game 3 was fish, game 4 was baby...  I'm gonna say the best player of  the final game should win the MVP

Yea he is our most valuable player. You're probably right man, I am a huge Kobe fan but over the past few years I've become REALLY hard on him because I expect so much because I know what he's capable of, so when he doesn't perform spectacularly I get frustrated.

You have to admit he is not playing his best in this series though. A lot of it is the Celtics defense, but he is NOT being as aggressive as he needs to or could be.

oh, Kobe's definitely not void of criticism in this series.. he's struggled shooting and in closing games.  but you have to remember that he is not Jordan and you can't expect him to be. if other players aren't doing their job, Kobe isn't just gonna come in and save the day every time. the Lakers still have to play as a team and not rely on one player to erase all their mistakes.

LA got badly outplayed down the stretch. that was mainly due to Bynum going down and Odom not being able to pick up the slack defensively and on the boards. imo, if Bynum doesnt get hurt, the Lakers go up 3-1 and are on their way to another championship. to me, that was more signficiant than Kobe missing shots or maybe not "taking over" the 4th quarter.

Are we watching the same games? I only remember one horrible shooting performance in this series. Game 3 was mostly the Lakers horrible clock management and just giving it to Kobe to throw up a shot with 1 second left on the shot clock to bail them out.

If the Lakers win, Kobe is clearly the MVP.

Like SamGoody said though.. you can't wait for the end of the game to start attacking.. his presence was not felt at all in the 4th.. it was close at a lot of points.. points in time which Kobe usually* takes over.

(Jordan would have... just saying)

^^well I retract the "close" statement.. Boston ran away with it.. they took advantage and nobody stepped up.

Dudes acting like Jordan didn't have any horrible Finals performances. No one remembers the Sonics series?

--Jordan and horrible dont belong in the same sentence. (Besides the sentence I just stated)

Yes true. But people saying Kobe is having a horrible Finals and then saying Jordan wouldn't have done this as if the Bulls vs Sonics never happened.

Look at the boxscores from Jordan's second threepeat...his shooting percentage was consistently pretty bad. He only had a handful of games @ 50%. Not that it excuses Kobe's lack of aggression in the 4th, but Jordan wasn't as efficient in the 2nd go around.

This excuse is unbelievable.

Kobe was consistently launching long contested jumpers without getting the ball to Pau in the post. He was in full chuck mode in Game 3 and he kept the Celtics in the game.

4 games in and I have no clue.

Kobe has putting up points but he's been inefficient and been garbage in the fourth quarter.
Pau has been efficient but not produced enough MVP-caliber stats.

Rondo has been off and on, making key plays one game and been invisible the next.
Jesus has been largely ineffective besides game 2.
Pierce hasn't gotten things going until game 4.
KG has been quiet except for game 3.

Kobe hasn't been coming up the court and chucking it with 18 seconds on the shotclock, thats old Kobe. this series he's been trying to create on offense each possession. its just that every time the Lakers failed to get a good look and and the shotclock was winding down, they would just toss it to Kobe with 4 seconds left and he'd be forced to put a shot up from wherever. this literally happened on like 10-15 possessions last game.

also, Kobe ignoring Gasol is not true.. next game, watch how many times Kobe defers to Pau on a particular possession and Pau passes it right back out instead of trying to score. Gasol just isn't that aggressive by nature, its why he can only ever be a #2 option on a championship team.

if the Lakers really want to get Gasol involved, they need to run a pick-and-roll with him and Kobe, ie what they did against PHX. but thats on Phil, not the players.
