From what I've read they were in talks and it fizzled after Nike stated that they only wanted the top teams in the NBA a la Bulls, Lakers, Knicks, etc...
The NBA said take it all or leave it, so they left it.

I like what Adidas did with the jerseys this year. BTW, all of Nike's soccer jerseys overseas are completely trash. They need to step their game up because adidas did.

adidas ruined da individuality of da warm ups in da NBA....alot of da warm ups when different companies outfitted da league expressed alot of da unique styles
and expressions of specific teams...now it all looks generic and copy & paste.

They wanted the teams they had before exclusives brand contracts. I believe they had in the late 90's early 2000's:
Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, Wizards, Raptors, Spurs, Heat, Pistons, and most likely would include Charlotte now.
