  That's down right horrible.

KC Jones, G, Boston Celtics

Yeah, guy won 8 championships, but he won them as a specialist, and not the main catalyst of the team....guy played the Bruce Bowen/Ariza/Battier type roles. Never averaged even 10.0 ppg for his career in the regular season, and just barely made it once in the postseason 10.1. No all-star teams/all-nba etc. etc, not even college player of the year or anything like that....

Inducted in '89 as a player

Now obviously i didnt get to watch the guy play....but based on what i've researched, this has gotta be a mistake right? Happy to be corrected/educated by any hardcore C's fan.

RE: Dirk/Malone

While you guys are right, Dirk might have a better offensive arsenal, I just want to put it out there that Karl's post game, especially that fallaway from the block was damn near unstoppable in his day. Might not have looked as spectacular as Dirk's one-legged fadeaways, but that %@#* pissed the hell off me whenever he did it coz he would destroy us back in the day with it

That just proves my point in why i hate ppl that says the league now is diluted. I mean guys like walton, kc jones, dantley, but then again that was the early nba when basically as long as you suited up and got some sort of accolade/award/achievement in any level of bball you was a hof. But its a hard call cause you got guys like mark price, cooper, glen rice etc who arent in.

Yeah well not to become a caricature of myself, but I needn't inform you that 42% 3pt shooting is better than 32%.

Dirks shooting 51% in ISO's, 53% on post ups, 55% coming off screens.

2) If he played these 15 years for the Pacers, people would adore this guy, his fans wouldn't be so bad, but because he is a Laker, and Laker fans are insane typically, his hate factor rises to unknown levels.  Mark my words.   I didn't like Bird, I didn't like Mike.  But when they were gone, I missed them terribly.  I didn't realize at the time.  I got a second chance when Mike stopped whiffing at curveballs, I made sure to enjoy those 3 years.  I don't like Lebron much, but I make sure to enjoy his career, I learned my lesson.  You that hate Kobe, you will miss him when he is gone.  I promise you you will.  He might be a douche bag, but on the court, he was memorable as any.

Right now I think I have him #6, or 7 all time.  3 more years, 1 elite levelish, 1 all star *!! (Ray Allen-Reggie Miller type year) and 1 solid year, his resume will be so stacked, I'll have him 4th all time.  If he wins another title, and does it soundly, plus more playoff work, #2-3 all time is not out of the question.

It would be a shame if this got Yuku'd, wouldn't it?

1)  STOP.  just stop.  you know a lot about the glorious game of basketball that we (Massachusetts) invented, but you apparently fail to recognize that you cannot claim titles earned by Minneapolis, Minnesotta (i think 5...is it?).  Different city, different fans, different stadium, different managing (as far as I know Morris Chalfen, Sid Hartman, & Ben Berger had no part in LA, and even if they did why would LA want to claim titles of another city?  A whole other STATE?

2)  You can stop right there too.  It has nothing to do with LA Faker fans, I can easily drone them out.  It's his LOOK and AURA that put him in the scumbag can't wait till he retires class.  MJ was/is a jerk too (maybe more so than Sohe Kryin but that look that....phrenological quality about Mike (for lack of a better phrase) forever keeps Mike on top.  Sohe has Gary Coleman hands compared to the GOAT Money Mike.  Sohe's legacy is he will NEVER be seen in the same global almost spiritual light as MJ....not even if he gets more rings. Never. Ever.

I have something for the more deep thinking niketalkers on here to ponder about Lebron James:

Number worn by Lebron in last game of series [6]

Number of last game of series in which Lebron played [6]

Number of turnovers Lebron had in last game of series [6]

In the case of KC Jones, I think the induction categories are the main problem. You can go in as a player, coach, contributor, referee or team. Jones clearly isn't two of those categories, and if you look at the people who have gone in as contributors, he doesn't fit that either. He didn't do enough, stat-wise, as a player, and he probably didn't do enough coaching-wise to go in as a coach, so they basically gave him a lifetime achievement award (remember, he got in a few years after his second ring as a coach), engraved "Player" on the plaque, and called it a day. Eight titles as a player and two as a coach...I'm pretty okay with that.

Ok, so if Boston moves their team to Seattle someday, their 17 titles are deleted? The franchise has no rings suddenly?
laugh.gif
Logical.

those 17 stay here and the seattle celtics are something entirely new....and diluted.

i wouldnt let them claim those rings they did nothing to deserve them. very logical yes.

see what i did there?

as for legacies heres my take on lebron....he doesnt have the weasel gene (ala Sohe Kryin, Phillip Rivers, or Larry from Perfect Strangers for example)

he is however an enormous d-bag....he can still redeem himself but that only comes with hard fought victories in the finals....and KEEPING HIS MOUTH SHUT.

he has time but if he doesnt win more than one, i will view him as a talent not fully realized.

It's too bad how much modern society gasses up these prodigies......they come in the L expecting rings, accommodations and adoration w/o even lifting a finger.....just being there.

they all need to take at least a glance at one paragraph of one chapter of one book of the opus of at least one GOAT (Brady or MJ cant lose either way)

The guy that hasn't won a playoff games since 2007?

He's (arguably) not even the best QB playing today, let alone the greatest of all time.

Boston fans are something else, boy.

Titles follow the team, not the city. Ainge, KG, Rondo etc etc play and work for the Seattle Sonics tomorrow, those are that teams titles, not the dang city of Boston. But if you don't buy that, that's fine, you have the right to your opinion.
