I think there is more going on with this shoe design wise than what for example @HeywoodJablome said. Yes the first release is black, but these small pieces all over the shoe appear to make the shoe mobile or constantly moving. If these small pieces would be cool grey for example or icy, then this would give the shoe a whole nother graphical appearance!
