NiKeTaLK computer heads come in..

My friend built me a pretty nice computer for a little more than $500.

Specs:
ASRock A780GXH/128M ATX AMD Motherboard
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 4850 100245DP Video Card
AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition 2.8GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core Processor
Kingston HyperX 4GB (4 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Quad Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX8500D2K4/4G
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive

I haven't tried out any games that have crazy graphics, but it really does amazingly playing Steam Engine games (I know that doesn't mean much).Looking forward to Starcraft 2!

And yes OP protect yourself from time itself and invest in a quad core, you won't have to worry about buying a newone for a good amount of time.

AMD fell off though for real. I haven't kept up with the hardware scene, but dman

They felll off pretty bad after the Barton but they still hold their own and like was stated are great budget CPUs. Those t-breds though were

We now know a little moreabout Intel's upcoming six-core Xeon CPU codenamed Westmere thanks to these leaked engineeringsamples.
Still classified as a Core i7 chip, the Xeon W5590 runs six 2.4GHz cores with 12MB of shared Level 3 cache and and 256KB of Level 2 cache per core.Hyperthreading support enables two program threads to run on each core, meaning that the whole system effectively delivers 12 cores. Price details have notbeen announced, but Westmereis officially due out in the first half of 2010.

You got to be careful with changing out the PSU on certain manufactured computers. I knew someone who fried their board because the company used a special PSUwith some of their machines. I don't know if they do that though.

Start off by telling us the model number and we can go from there. You can always put an old computer to use. I was using old Pentium 2's for random thingsuntil I cleaned up.

Gut it out, maybe keep the hdd if its not too small and rebuild. At least ull have a decent hdd and a tower and not have to pay for it.

This thread just reminded me that I need to get mine built and quitplayin around. Procrastination/slackin ftl
