The question is could you spend a million dollars. Not one million before taxes. Anyone can do that.

Buy a Nice Crib in the suburb's and a condo in the city. Also buy a crib in the DR.

Buy my parents a house.

Buy a BMW M3 and other project car's.

Start my own business and invest.

Travel and buy things that I've always wanted.

Give some money to my friend's that have always been their.

if it was only a mil i would spend a little and save the rest, i've always been a saver

. i wouldn't just go buy a big house cuz at this point in my life i'd be more than content to just get a decent apartment. i'd use some of it to get some new gear n spend some more on treez

Did you? He said a million then he suggested that it was from the lotto in the next sentence.

Boilermaker X:
Today
1.  No one would ever know.  I wouldn't even tell my wife.  She might find out after I die.  (Everyone's situation is different, but this would work here.)
2.  All phones are scrapped and replaced with new numbers before I even send in the ticket.  I don't care if I knew you since my first breath.  The only way to talk to me now is to make it through the newly installed guard dogs.  (Cover is that something crazy happened to someone at work, now I'm worried about home security.)

Coming months
3.  I elect to take the upfront payment, settle a few modest debts just for peace of mind, and everything else is divided between multiple brokerages and ultimately form an overall diversified portfolio that I manage.
4.  Nothing else changes on a day-to-day basis.  Nothing changes in the way I work, nothing changes around the house.

This year
5.  In a few of months I start getting back in touch with family and friends and apologize for not keeping up, been really busy with work, cell phone problems, got new numbers, yadda, yadda, yadda.  (Again, I know this wouldn't work for everyone, but this would work here.)
6.  A tithe will be divided amongst various sources.  Anonymous cashier's checks (not requiring my signature) arrive by certified mail.

Years to come
7a. Money goes toward education, social and cultural enrichment, and edifying opportunities for my children.
7b. Money may go toward long-term community projects.
7c. Money will likely go to aid those in need (always anonymously).
8.  Will likely pay down the mortgage quite a bit.
9.  In a few years I might get a new car or something just to be indulgent.

I've thought about this.  I like my life and I don't need anything.  I would much rather give it all away than have it become a problem for us or those around us and the only way I can foresee that working is if nobody knows.
You don't say?

After taxes if it's less than 600K I might just continue doing what I do

Keep on going to school.... work my PT job. I could imagine not working and just going to school.... maybe place half in a CD and live off the interest (if interest is good)

Might buy a restaurant like Carls Jr or something. Live the life in Mexico while growing some green in my back yard. I could live a simple life and would love it.

ok, to all that will spend it all on exotic cars, mansion and stuff like that. Let's think for a second-after the money is gone, responsibilites will still be there. Insurance/ license plate renewal for a Phantom is pretty high these days, a little bit more than your camry or fusion. And think of the bills in a mansion... and probably a lot more things that I don't even know about.

id invest some property, a few homes, duplexes, and apartments then rent them out. you can make serious bank off renting property.

I'd buy everything in a Kroger's store, just to be the first one to ever do it. Then donate it.
