OP if your military experience is going to go a LONG way. FIrst of all thank you for serving your country, second, it shows all the qualities b-schools look for. some schools are very military friendly, HBS and UVA can be very forgiving (of low GPA/GMAT) for people with military records.

i had a 3.63 overall gpa majoring in finance (3.95 major gpa) from carnegie mellon and will have 3 years as an investment banking analyst as experience (just got done with year 1)... hopefully i can score over a 700 so i can get into a top 20 b-school... i have a few extra ciriculars.. played football all 4 years in college, was captain of my team sr year.. president of my fraternity jr year.. co-founded a business the summer after college grad with a freind from college (dealing with geo-thermal energy) and am currently the head of the "Living well" program at my employer... so i have a decent resume + extra cirriculars, probably need some community service on there

... i just started studying this week, will be taking test dec 4... there is TONS of material though and I have very limited time due to working rougly 80 hrs a week... smh.

I'm with you on the limited time.  I try to study an hour at work(lunch break), then another hour at home.  I need to start studying for multiple hours on the weekends though.  Your profile seems good as long as you can pull off a good GMAT score.  At least a 670+.  I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get into a top 20.  What materials are you using?

I swear I must be the minority when it comes to taking the GMAT.  I mean, on GMATClub, there are a million Indian guys who smoke the quant part, but bomb the verbal.  I guess since I'm a native english speaker, I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum.  I'm working on it now though.  I just got finished with the 1st book in the MGMAT series.  I'm not taking the test until December, but I'm really banking on getting a 700+ my first time.  I don't want to have to take the test again.  Once is more than enough stress for a person to subject themself too.

I`m not trying to get into Harvard or anything, but what are you guys thoughts of purposefully pushing back undergrad graduation? After this semester I will have only 10 hrs left and can graduate in Spring 11 but I've been thinking about Graduating in Fall just to boost GPA a little bit and secure a job, any thoughts?

I think that you've really got to weigh the benefits against the time lost(not working).  I mean, if your GPA is 2.7-2.9, and you know for certain that you can bring it up to a 3.0 without much difficulty, then I'd say go for it.  If you're above a 3.0 already and are planning on applying to b-school, I would say just worry about your GMAT/essays/recommendations.  GPA is only a part of the whole application process.  The main thing I would say is to not waste time.  Not to say that trying to raise your GPA is wasting time, but you know what I mean.

I have a low 3, and if I get a C in Finance I may either drop extremely borderline or to a 2.9, I`m trying  make sure I at least Grad Cum Laude. I have a decent gig right now making  Good money, not something I'd do for a living, but for a college student with no kids it does have me living lavish. Oh yea I`m a CIS Major, I feel that Super High GPAs are vital for Management and Marketing, but when it comes to IT its all about experience.
