It was style over substance. Good movie, not great.
Mentioning how overrated The Godfather is in this year's Oscars thread? Trolling.
Birdman is being praised for a variety of reasons. Great performances by the actors. Keaten, Norton, and Stone all did a very good job. The direction, style, and cinematography, were all excellent as well. Filming the entire movie to appear as one continuous take was incredibly impressive from a technical standpoint.. and that ambition and execution should be praised and discussed. Great soundtrack and overall style as well.
The content wasn't anything groundbreaking... a man struggling with his identity, self-worth, and trying to salvage his career, but it was still well executed. I liked the element of Birdman talking to him and acting as another personality, liked the whole "Is this real or in his mind" aspect too.
The only "machine" is that the Academy likes movies about actors/movies/theater/show business/etc., but it's hardly hyping up an undeserved film, but giving a slight push to an already very good movie.
Man get the **** outta here. Its one of those movies that being completely driven by the machine. People just have to say its good cause its one of "those" films.Maybe I don't watch movies deep enough but Birdman was horrible![]()
. What made it great?
You know how if you say The Godfather sucks (which it does) everyone starts looking at you funny? Its one of those things

I've noticed that tooKaguya was robbed.
When it comes to Animated Film category, the voters don't even watch the movies. They just go with the Disney/Pixar pick. They confirmed this in a article not too long ago.

This awards show ******* sucks. Everybody at the Oscars acts like monotone robots with no personality. Kevin Hart was the first dude that got up there that actually acted like himself tonight.
