Are old DS af1s safe to wear? I’ve been buying a lot from like the 90s/early 2000s lately. Obviously the sole doesn’t crack but will I pop the air bubbles or something by wearing these. A reliable source told me not to even bother spending $$$ on old DS pairs because of this
Inner midsole air bag will crush and sole separation will begin once you unds them, still though you should wear them you already spent the money

I’m getting sole separation on all my pairs from 2005 or prior that have been worn ever since. No soft bags yet though.

Does this happen to all them or it’s like a toss up? I just Got some 3m snakes and other gems. Looking at some DS crimsons Also

Took apart 2 different 90s jewels with different midsole. Not sure if this is the case for this specific pair or earlier models got different inner midsole.

Left side is from my 96 carolina jewel mids, the void area did have an air bubble in it but was crumbled to plastic shards. These where from 96 and not sure if earlier pairs than these had the same midsole. Even then you should be able to wear them if the air unit bust because its constructed out of a fabric foam material that will not deteriorate.

The right pair is from my 98 black spruce jewels. Nike seem to have made these with a polyurethane inner midsole which is the problematic material.

You won't really know which you have until you wear. If the polyurethane fails then the outer midsole will look like its failing when you wear them and put some weight on the shoe.

Depends on the actual shoe, how they were stored, if you got a lucky/strong pair, your weight, etc.

If you're under 175 pounds or so you might be good with the air bag.

Midsole separation is pretty much unavoidable but is an easy fix with certain super glues and a toothpick.

Yea Linens were $250 or less for a long time. Now $600. Buying shoes and sitting on them for 2 years is better than most stocks.

thats why Im not too upset at the reselling game now

from a grown man/investing perspective its a great easy way to make some money

f that im still upset, but its understandable

O fragment 1s u elude me so

Thanks for sharing. Wish I hadn't found out the hard way that this happened :frown: I assumed they were like dunks and 1s

Lovely addition to the collection:
