About to run with my Hawks online even though it will be a struggle. I'm ready for Tarvaris overthrowing receivers deep and missing the easy dump routes

I wonder what the best team will be to counter the Eagles. I'm not even ready for the frustration that will come from playing that cheap @#$ team.

I'm in for that tourney though.

ESPN.com and EA Sports are proud to present the exclusive first look at the official "Madden NFL 12" player ratings. We are going to break down the ratings for all of the players, two teams per business day, starting with the AFC East.

But before you check out the names and numbers and immediately fly off the handle about how outdated the rosters are, I need to explain something. Due to the NFL lockout and the fact that EA Sports needed to cement the rosters in mid-June in order to get the discs to production on time, the rosters for some teams are terribly wrong. But don't worry -- that's where online gaming comes into play. EA Sports promises that when the game hits stores on August 30, they will already have an online roster update ready to transform every squad to their most current lineups (and immediately making the Eagles the most dominant team in "Madden" history).

Unfortunately, not everyone plays online, so it will almost be like a time warp when you go over to your one friend's house who didn't make the update and see him still playing as Donovan McNabb and the ********. Then again, it could make for a fun league in a weird, what-might-have-been type of way.

Anyway, here are the numbers for the Bills and Dolphins players and a look at how the rosters will ship with the game.

For the Bills, Lee Evans is a burner on the outside with 96 speed, 92 acceleration. The problem is hitting him deep as Ryan Fitzpatrick only has 80 throwing power, giving corners that extra second to catch up when the ball hangs in the air.

The "Madden" star of the team and the player every gamer needs to check, however, is C.J. Spiller. The back blazes the virtual field with 95 speed, 97 acceleration. Pitch him the ball wide, throw him a screen, just get the kid in space and he's got the potential to score.

For the Dolphins, Brandon Marshall might have the big name, but the key is getting the ball to Davone Bess. With 96 acceleration and 95 catching, Bess has the hands to catch just about any ball, make his man miss, and take off down the sidelines with the best of them. I like to put him in the slot to create mismatches, then let his playmaking ability go to work.

All this week, ESPN's Gamer Blog, in partnership with SportsNation, is counting down the Top 5 players in "Madden NFL 12" at various positions, from the best quarterbacks in the game to the top hitting linebackers.

So just who are the best players in "Madden" this year? We kick things off with the guys who get all the glory (not to mention, the supermodels), taking a look at which quarterbacks received the highest overall ratings in the game. Let the debate begin.

Tom Brady: 99 overall

Tom Brady is the only quarterback to score a 99 overall this year, also boasting 98 awareness, 95 throwing power, 97 accuracy, 99 stamina, 95 toughness, 98 throwing accuracy short, 96 throwing accuracy middle, and 89 throwing accuracy deep. His only weakness? That 58 speed and 57 acceleration will make it near impossible to avoid the virtual sack.

EA SportsPeyton Manning still has the virtual arm to get it done in the clutch.

Peyton Manning: 98 overall

Peyton Manning falls just short of Brady in almost all categories, scoring a 94 throwing power, 96 throwing accuracy, 96 throwing accuracy short, 92 throwing accuracy middle, and 86 throwing accuracy deep. Where Manning beats Brady is in awareness (99) and foot speed (60 speed). I'd pay to see that race.

EA SportsAaron Rodgers features the arm and running ability "Madden" gamers love.

Aaron Rodgers: 98 overall

The CM Punk of the NFL, Aaron Rodgers might have the championship belt (and more importantly the Super Bowl MVP), but he still seems underappreciated by the mainstream fans. But to "Madden" fans, the love affair has been going on for a couple of years as Rodgers possesses the big arm and the mobility gamers are looking for. I'm talking about 79 speed and 84 acceleration to go with that 95 throwing power and 92 throwing accuracy. Only 88 awareness, though, for the champ? No respect.

EA SportsPhilip Rivers and that 98 toughness can stare down any defense.

Philip Rivers: 96 overall

While Rivers has more awareness than Rodgers (94 to 8, he doesn't have the arm strength or mobility of the Packers QB. Rivers' numbers include 63 speed, 90 throwing power, 96 throwing accuracy, and 98 toughness. What else would you expect from a trash-talking gun-slinger who you couldn't get off the field after a big hit even if you had the "Madden" ambulance.

Playing as the former "Madden" cover athlete is like throwing cyber darts. He's one of the most accurate passers in the game, highlighted by 99 throwing accuracy short, 92 throwing accuracy middle, and 85 throwing accuracy deep. Add to that a score of 88 for play-action and 77 for throwing on the run, and Brees' "Madden" character continues to be anything but cursed.

EA Sports Unveils 'Season Ticket' for Five Games

EA Sports is set to unveil a program called Season Ticket, a $25 per year membership that is intended to give gamers certain perks for supporting particular EA Sports games.

Here is what the program covers:

Early full-game access to EA Sports games before their release - This is the biggest aspect of the program. Starting with Madden, folks will be able to download the full game on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network a full three days before the actual release of the title. You will be able to play any part of the game, and then on launch day the download will then be locked and you will have to go out and buy the actual game at an actual retail outlet. (If you don't download the game three days before release, you still get three days of access to the full game regardless of when you download it.) So Madden still has a release date of August 30, but you will be able to download and play the game on August 27. All of your game saves, Achievements, Trophies and so forth will transfer to the full game if you choose to buy it on launch day.

Discounts on all downloadable content associated with EA Sports titles - Anything that is released in the virtual stores on the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be 20 percent off the regular price if you are a Season Ticket member.

Free "premium" web content - This portion of the program is more unclear than any other for now. FIFA 12 has a Creation Center aspect that will be free for users to toy with on EA's website if you choose to join the program, but otherwise it's still a bit fuzzy what will be included in this portion of the program.

Membership recognition so others know that you are a Season Ticket user - This is essentially a badge of sorts that other gamers will be able to see on the EA Sports website, as well as within EA Sports games.

The program is set to launch when Madden launches -- or technically before it launches. From there on out, five games will be associated with the Season Ticket initiative for now: Madden, NHL, FIFA, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and NCAA Football. [h3]'Madden 12' Player Ratings: Jets and Patriots[/h3]

[Ed. Note: ESPN.com and EA Sports are releasing the exclusive "Madden NFL 12" player ratings two teams at a time through August 22. Please keep in mind that the rosters for some teams are wrong due to the NFL lockout. But don't worry -- when the game hits stores on August 30, EA will already have an online roster update ready to transform every squad to their most current lineups.]

Today, we take a look at the numbers for the Jets and Patriots, two teams that are always among the most played in the "Madden" community.

And this year should be no different, especially when you have a lockdown corner like Darrelle Revis covering your opponent's best receiver. Revis is a monster in the game (again!), thanks to his 99 overall, 93 speed, 96 acceleration, 99 man coverage, and 96 zone coverage skills. Throw in Antonio Cromartie's 96 speed, 97 acceleration, and you have a defensive secondary not to be messed with.

Then again, if there's one team who can put up numbers against the Jets, it's the rival Patriots. I mean, who better to outplay a 99 corner, than a 99-rated quarterback like Tom Brady. Look for the Pats to throw a lot down the middle to their two tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, as these two create a lot of mismatch problems for defenses, both virtual and real life.

But don't worry -- when the game hits stores on August 30, EA will already have an online roster update ready to transform every squad to their most current lineups.]

Today, we take a look at the numbers for the Jets and Patriots, two teams that are always among the most played in the "Madden" community.

And this year should be no different, especially when you have a lockdown corner like Darrelle Revis covering your opponent's best receiver. Revis is a monster in the game (again!), thanks to his 99 overall, 93 speed, 96 acceleration, 99 man coverage, and 96 zone coverage skills. Throw in Antonio Cromartie's 96 speed, 97 acceleration, and you have a defensive secondary not to be messed with.

Then again, if there's one team who can put up numbers against the Jets, it's the rival Patriots. I mean, who better to outplay a 99 corner, than a 99-rated quarterback like Tom Brady. Look for the Pats to throw a lot down the middle to their two tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, as these two create a lot of mismatch problems for defenses, both virtual and real life.
