I get your point. It's tied to the way a possession ends rather than the way it begins, so it's imperfect. I still think that's a pretty good statistical tool in context.

IDK if something like ball time in a player's possession is tracked. Probably not, but maybe in the future.

Yeah it's tracked along with dribbles per game.

Nowadays they literally track everything.

A prime example was the 05-06 Lakers. Kobe went gun-ho the entire year for 45 wins. They got torched by the suns in the reg season if I recall.

But come playoff time, he allowed and empowered guys such as Smush and Kwame Brown to feel confident about themselves, and participate in the actual game, and as a result they almost pulled off a historical upset.

Nobody wins big in the NBA playing that kind of way and as long as you have NBA players surrounding you, you can never convince me that your teammates are so bad that you have to dominate the ball, freeze them out, etc...they're friggin NBA players for christ' sake.

The Thunder would have had a better chance to beat Houston in the playoffs if Russ spent the entire year actually empowering teammates instead of statpading.

Lol You can't empower a _ that can't shoot to all of a sudden become a good shooter.

The Lakers almost pulled that upset cuz Kobe played out his mind, Kwame was playing good defense and rebounding and dudes started hitting open shots that they was bricking most of the time.

They were one rebound away from taking the Suns out in 6 but KWAME BROWN and Lamar Odom couldn't secure a damn rebound.

2006 Lakers Most Likely would have beaten the Clippers in the Second round too.

You missing the point. Relative to the MVP race, was this a common belief going into the season? That the rockets had more than enough capable threats? The answer is, no. It was 'meh' by most accounts. The outlook on OKC was far more optimistic.

Perhaps PART (not all) of the reason why Russ's teammates "Couldn't execute" as you put it is because he whored' the ball for the entire season w/o empowering his teammates. Again, the outlook for OKC was far more optimistic than Houston's, and it wasn't until James Harden went supernova that that perception changed.

Are we gonna just skim by the fact that there wasn't common belief because their two biggest acquisitions who people knew were capable were also big injury Risk??

Anderson - 21,62,66 the amount of games played prior to the Rockets
Gordon - 61,64, 45 the amount of games played prior to the Rockets

your expectations are gonna be a bit dim when your second & third options on average are expected to miss a quarter of the season.

yes maybe Russ Should have empowered the sub 40 percent SG who put up a whopping 6 PPG
Or maybe Oladipo, who was given the keys to the franchise & lost his starting spot to Fournier
or the rookie mid round pick who was forced to start
or the center who never averaged more than 10, despite playing with KD & Westbrook
or maybe the offensive prowess we've seen from Taj Gibson all these years had to cultivated.......... if you don't get outta here with that ********

Also why are we acting as if Russ hasn't been a Focal point of a team that consistently been winning 50+ games a year & made several deep playoff runs..... he's way more positive for a team then a detriment

but then again there's people who still claim Kobe doesn't play winning basketball despite him having one of the highest winning percentages in NBA history

And yet James harden had no issues leading a team to 56 wins under this exact circumstance

Why did the Spurs go 8-1 w/o Kawhi last year?

“They didn’t stand a fukking chance,” he says of the Cavs, who lost in five games. “It pissed me off we didn’t sweep them, though.”

He wants to relay something that Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey had said in an interview, reacting to the Warriors' title. The team had texted it to each other: “They are not unbeatable. There have been bigger upsets in sports history. We are going to keep improving our roster. We are used to long odds. If Golden State makes the odds longer, we might up our risk profile and get even more aggressive. We have something up our sleeve.”

Then he pauses, scoffing at Morey’s comments.

“What the fukk are you talking about?” he says to me. “They are really trying to rethink their whole strategy”—here he bumps a table repeatedly with his hand for emphasis, getting excited—“because teams know they don’t have a fukking clue.”

Draymond deserves all the respect in the world for talking greasy like he does. He owns it

Andre Roberson shot 21% from the ft line last playoffs. Free throw!

Conley, Paul, Curry, Jesus, nobody is making him a credible offensive threat sans for when he wide open which Russ has no issue finding him.

The Thunder are going to stink when they go to thr bench this yr too esp if Felton and PP dont get healthy

Undeniably he takes a lot of shots, often bad ones, and makes bad decisions, but his cast around him put him between a rock and a hard place. Someone used the word empower, like as if we need to rub more plays for Roberson and Adams.

Why he can't talk? He played great in that game 7. If Steph ain't choke and get abused by Kyrie Warriors might be on a three peat.

Cause he ain't that good and he was garbage in the last finals. Let's be real here, there's at least 10 pf who could produce the same results as him.

Dude was getting DNPCD in the olympics cause the GS system wasn't in place.

It's a tale as old as time...

The more the player hogs the ball and loses, the more his teammates magically become garbage in the eyes of his defenders.

The more the player sets up his teammates and wins, he's actually not that good because he has good teammates (according to those same people)

At least MVP is honest that he just likes watching selfish one on one basketball.

By this logic of course certain players will never be responsible for their losing ways, since it's never their fault.
