🎾 Official Nike Tennis (and other brands as well) Thread 🎾

very nice. thanks for the pics.

thinking about getting the black Nadal's from us open

Any NYC'ers know where / if at all the Federer "skyline" Vapor is available, and if the All neon 2.2 is for sale anywhere as well.  If anyone can shed light on this and has relevant ph. numbers to contact  fo purchase that would be awesome.

According to TW member eddie0205...

"here's some upclose pics of them. by the way, the bright all yellow nadal shoes that i posted up earlier on this thread is exclusive to the nike store there as well. they are 40$ each shoe-left of right foot- (2 for 80). ONLY SIZE 15. they are made out of pretty much all tennis ball material, although u could wear them if u are a size 15... they also have exclusive nadal shoes this year! they are just like the black/neon green ones on retail now, but they are "glow in the dark" and they have the rafa symbol on the inner foot and the back of the shoe as opposed to the regular nike symbol. those are 185$. the fed ones i got are still at 200$. the jacket that i bought was 120, i thought it was limited edition like last years, but sadly... it's not... shoulda done my research first i guess. enjoy the pics."

The TW thread on the Nike store there is frustrating to read through.
I wish I could still go to the open every year.

Anyone on here going? I would love to get my hands on the Nadal wristbands and socks.

Most of TW is frustrating to read through... too many troll and meaningless threads.  Everytime Rafa/Fed loses a match a thread pops up on how their career is over or whatever.  Bashing everywhere.

I don't care for Fed all too much, nor am I a Rafa fan, but its just ridiculous over there...
Anyway, since you seem to be an Henry fan...

^Haha. Yeah I saw that. I'm a Arsenal supporter first, but I still haven't let go of the Henry days. He was a force during his time in England. I guess he got the VIP Gillette buddy treatment at the Open.

Effin nike, P the style code for the Federer skylines are EXCLUSIVE to the tourney

Fred ~ Ehhh... Federer-shmederer... who needs em! Resellers ate em up though... at least you got the Rafas, which IMO are nicer than the Vapors.

APlus ~ Argh... I hate the Gooners, but I always appreciated Henry. The guy is class (up until "Ireland" anyway, lol).

Anyway, stumbled onto this vid of Rafa breaking-in his new 2.3's. Now, I know he's a strong guy, but looking at how easily he contorts the shoe, it just shows how soft of a rubber-compound Nike uses for Rafa's PE's. The GR's also have a shank-plate, but looking at these PE's, the midfoot looks awfully soft.

Interesting video. Thanks for sharing.
Those just look way too flimsy to be manhandled like that. I wish Nike would make that version of the 2.3 available to the public with a disclaimer of only lasting one match. I would throw some cash away to see how they play.

Anybody know what the story is with the fit of Nadal's shoes? I've read that because of his soccer days, he has always worn his tennis shoes too small. I too always bought my soccer footwear on the snug side because the leather forms to your foot. With tennis shoes though, it makes me think your feet would feel like they were being bound.

I've always thought he looked as though his feet were the descendants of a ******.

^ Yeah, I read that in TW a few years ago (Lol, we probably saw it in the same thread). Anyway, its probably why he has so many foot problems (blisters). In football, don't players intentionally go down a size in their boots to get better control and feel for the ball?  I guess with such a soft shoe, he can afford to go with such a tight fit.

And it also appears that Fed is still not willing to wear the Vapor Tours...

Most definitely Vapor VI's.

Another close-up of Fed's PE's... interesting difference between his outsole and the full-herringbone pattern of the GR outsole.

That outsole looks like it's from either the first or second Vapor model. Or one he had Nike make that is similar to them.

Nice pickup Heartandsole... How long did you have to wait to get both of those signed?

And a Six.One I see... RPM in the main's and a multi in the crosses?

No lines, have a few connections

And yes, RPM in the mains, NV in the crosses 48 lbs. Perfect.

^ Nice.  I'm not a Fed fan, but I'm a sucker for autographed sports memorabilia.  Connects FTW.

Its interesting to see the tension-trend over the last 5-10 years.  I know you're supposed to drop 10% for polys, but 48lbs... damn.  I've went with 62-+%+ for as long as I can remember.  I'm old-school in that I still use full-multis, but am really tempted to try a full poly setup.  Tempted to try this sub-50 tension too, but am afraid I'll hate it.

Fred ~ Haha... nah, just noticed the string-setup, thats all.  Black main string most likely meant that it was a poly.  The Babolat RPM was the first black poly that came to mind.  A different colored cross string meant that it was hybrid setup, so naturally it had to have been a multifilament.

SinnerP- Connections definitely FTW haha. My pops coaches, so I get some goodies once and a while. About the strings, used to string in the high 60's.. I've gradually moved down and I prefer this. If you can control the ball it's great cause you can generate so much power even from bad positions. Definitely worth trying.

Heart&Sole ~ I'm certainly considering doing a low-tension, full-poly. My only concerns are the lower power-level. I use a control-oriented, old-school frame so I guess lowpower is to be expected, but with poly, I'm afraid it might be even lower. I also use an oversize frame so I suppose I shouldn't really go below 50 or my recommended tension range.

Do you know what the main differences are between having a poly in the mains vs. having a multi in the mains? I don't hit with much spin, so string durability isn't an issue for me.
