Yo I just checked out an internet service provider in Japan (J:Com to be exact)
And they offer 160mbps down and 10 up for roughly $78.00!!!

That's crazy! I get 25 down and 5 up with cox for $64.99

Yeah, but for the casual user they're not going to want to upgrade it. I can't see HTPC's being sold commercially and being profitable, only enthusiasts would be enticed. Stick an ARM SOC plus RAM/Flash storage into a TV and send out software upgrades, and most people will be happy. HTPC's are sort of a stopgap between the current situation and the fully connected TV, so early adopters/enthusiasts are trying to get that perfect integration before major companies try to push their own ecosystems. I think HTPC's will become a thing of the past once Internet TV's get enough market penetration.

I think the SSD and 4GB RAM helped a bit. Thing powers on and off much faster than my rig.
eek.gif

He's only going to use it for just some browsing/checking e-mail/YouTube and the occassional movie on it... not really Battlefield 3, just saying (which my rig can't even do right now since the GPU's busted.

Damn, $5 cheaper than what I got... but it was just a last minute buy for my friend's cousin who's PI-bound. Oh well. Still $80 cheaper compared to local prices.

I don't think my rig will fit in what's left in my sig.
