I need to listen to this mans opinion on this to unite the country tho

It’s telling that, from the Republicans’ perspective, treating members of a minority group like second class citizens is “unifying,” but equality is “divisive.”

That’s really all anyone needs to know about the GOP.

Mitch McConnell and other Republicans legit denied systemic racism existence and used Obama as an explain
Remember McCain’s concession speech?

“This is an historic election, and I recognize the special significance it has for African-Americans and for the special pride that must be theirs tonight.

I've always believed that America offers opportunities to all who have the industry and will to seize it. Sen. Obama believes that, too. But we both recognize that though we have come a long way from the old injustices that once stained our nation's reputation and denied some Americans the full blessings of American citizenship, the memory of them still had the power to wound.

A century ago, President Theodore Roosevelt's invitation of Booker T. Washington to visit — to dine at the White House — was taken as an outrage in many quarters. America today is a world away from the cruel and prideful bigotry of that time. There is no better evidence of this than the election of an African-American to the presidency of the United States. Let there be no reason now for any American to fail to cherish their citizenship in this, the greatest nation on Earth.” (Emphasis mine.)

The MEMORY of them? Ask Rev. Jeremiah Wright about the “memory” of that campaign.

We’re closer to seeing Confederate flags on Mars than we are to being “a world away” from racism.

And yet, McCain didn’t even wait for them to finish counting the votes before declaring America a post-racial society.

He managed to get every single line wrong, too.

Oh I remember

I also McCain then went full-on white supremacist in 2010 to fend off a primary challenge from a Tea Party candidate in 2010.

Him abandoning immigration reform because racists in his state were throwing a tantrum

And I remember McCain gleefully helping deny the first black president the chance to restore a Civil Rights friendly majority to the Supreme Court. And suggested he would do the same to the potential first female president

The GOP is rotten to its core. Deny racism out of one side of their mouth, then make appeals to racist voters out of the other side.
