Social scientists sometimes classify collapses into five tiers.

1.) Business Collapse, lack of demand causes firms to cut hours or even close shop.

2.) Fiscal/Liquidity collapse, There is not enough money to lubricate the economy.

3.) Monetary Collapse, The currency is no good or subject to hyperinflation.

4.) State Collapse, the state disintegrates or at least no longer has a monopoly of legitimate use of force.

5.) Societal Collapse, kin kills or abandons kin and that includes parents abandoning or selling child into slavery.

So I guess the Walker run off campaign is about being a Texas resident who runs on a tier five collapse. Very normal, very cool.

I generally see “Big Business” excluding finance since we’re just leaches that don’t produce anything of value or something.

My brother is a socialist but also a finance guy, he settled into VC but has also worked in IB and HF. he likens finance to the circulatory system of an economy. It is absolutely vital but the current American version is chock full of bad cholesterol and blood clots. I think that that's a good assessment.

It's funny how the GOP hates on big business and lionizes small business. These cheerleaders for capitalism don't understand capitalism. Small businesses aspire to become big businesses and big business aspire to be "crony capitalists" (firms protected by the state)/ which tend to be "woke companies" or "corporate communists."

I recall my advanced micro prof in undergrad said that the less competitive the market (all things being equal, of course), the more a firm can indulge its individual preferences of its managers/shareholders. This was long enough ago that that meant that firms, large or small, would tend to want fellow white men in its senior positions. In the intervening years (it's been too many), societal norms have changed. While the upper most echelons of business are still held by a white patriarchal value system, there is desire for there to be more women and minorities and queer folks in middling positions and in certain gate keeping positions. Meanwhile, smaller firms have tended to keep a very eurocentric and patriarchal set of hiring preferences. IMO, this is why conservatives now rail against big business while still caping like crazy for the power and prerogatives of private capital in general.

I did one big lump sum, and I thought I did my part financially.

I'm getting like 4 emails a day now. The last one was like "I'll be blunt, Imma need to ask you for a donation"

I think mans gonna hit me up tomorrow, and the email title gonna be like "C'mon big dawg, I know you got it"
